Does Volk get the title of GOAT FW back if he regains the title?

It losses it luster when you don't win it back from the man who defeated you.
 
It's still Aldo with 10 title wins including WEC. He wasn't the same fighter by the time he lost to Conor after going through several injuries.

Aldo has a good argument but it's cliche when it's claimed a fighter isn't in his prime, the moment he loses a fight. Aldo was 32 and 25-1 when he lost to Conor.

He's still technically fighting in the UFC a decade now later.

This is the lead-up to 2015 with his injuries. His body was breaking down on him.

UFC 125 – Aldo had just been named the first UFC featherweight champion after the organisation adopted the 145lb weight division but his first defence against Josh Grispi quickly became a non-event when the Brazilian withdrew from the card, citing an injury.

UFC 149 – Another undisclosed injury put the kibosh on Aldo’s planned bout with Erik Koch in July 2012 which led to teammate Renan Barao’s interim bantamweight fight with Urijah Faber being moved to the main event. .

UFC 153 – Erik Koch would have been cursing Aldo’s training partners when the rescheduled title fight was also scrapped after the Nova Uniao fighter damaged his foot in training.

UFC 176 – This event was just the second time that the UFC had to cancel an entire pay-per-view when Jose Aldo fell out of his scheduled fight with Chad Mendes after a shoulder injury late on in training meant that he couldn’t compete.
 
He'll be the most accomplished FW for sure if he beats Diego and Movsar but would need to move up again to LW to avenge the loss to Ilia in order to truly become the FW GOAT.

No doubt he had mileage on him but he also fought 14 times in the UFC following the Conor fight, that's a whole UFC career there for most any fighter, you can't have that longevity and have a broken down body by your early 30s.

He may not have been at his ultimate peak in the Conor fight I'll grant but still in his general prime at that point and it's revision to imply Conor only beat a past prime Aldo, when it was absolutely not viewed that way at the time.

The fact Aldo has been able to remain relevant is a testament to how great he actually was in his prime. If you watch his fights from 2008-2013 you will visibly see an absolute better and more dynamic fighter than he was 2015 and beyond. I know what my eyes are telling me and it's that the injuries took a toll.

Volk is an ATG though so I don't mind people thinking he was better. But imo Aldo still holds the title of FW goat.

Nah they're was a clear decline for Aldo from his WEC days to when he fought Conor. The first sign was the Hominick fight. In hindsight the Zombie and Lamas fights he looked so so too
 
Volk beat Islam in their first fight and got robbed by the judges. I also think Max got robbed on the Volk 2 scorecards, but Volk put such a one-sided masterclass beating on Max in the trilogy that it erased all doubts who's the better of the two. Any version of Baldo would have gotten his salad tossed vs Islam, and Volk made him look like a bum. I think Baldo fanboys just want to see Volk lose again just because. Too bad Cejudo never got a chance to put the final nail in Baldo's coffin at BW, but he'll continue to be as overrated as BJ Penn.

DC has less LW title defenses than Tito, but I’d consider DC to be the better LHW. Wins over Rumble & Gus (when DC beat them) trump Tito’s best victories during his run.

I personally believe it’s close, but I pick Volk. As great as Max is, it was Volk who kept him from the top spot. The Boxing, leg kicks, wrestling, submission Defense, plus beating Max 2-1 gives him the edge.

I don't disagree in the instances you mentioned but when all the best talent is in one organisation title defences are huge.

Of course there is granularity ie Jones beating Stipe carries a tiny fraction of the weight Illia over Max but still 9 successful defences in a row is insanely difficult.

Maybe I'm biased in that I believe hype plays a huge portion assessment of depth in a division.

Losing at 35+ against the best guy ever (or second best) in a division above you is not even close to being as bad as losing against Conor, Max and Volk in your prime at the very weightclass you are supposed to be the goat at.
 
The term GOAT gets thrown around left and right, since a couple of years.
It is sad to watch...

AND
Volk is not the GOAT of FW.
Never was never will.
Same for Ilia...or Conor...or DDP or Bobby or Izzy at MW...or Usman at WW...or Stipe at HW...or Nunes at WFW ...or Rose at WSW...or Cejudo at FLW...
