Does the UFC provide the fighters with insurance?

It's really not a job if you cannot sustain a viable living status which includes medical necessities. I really wish we knew the breakdown from A to Z or at least had more of the unseen scale structure.

Conor Heun opened up about it after his release. He fought a total of 2 fights for Zuffa, going 1-1 in a span of under 1 year. In that time, on top of covering his fight injuries, Zuffa covered $200,000.00 in medical bills.

His one complaint was that they didn't cover his last surgery, which was something like $30,000+. In my opinion though, I think he really should blame his doctor for trying to milk more money by trying to find things wrong that aren't.

If you notice the one year where there were dozens and dozens of injuries... That was the same year fighters got insurance.. It was freakin nuts how many fighters were pulling out.

After Volkmann's cut this is what he said:
“They always claim that they treat the fighters so well. Yeah, they treat the top five per cent of the fighters well — the ones that are on the main card all the time. They don’t treat the rest of them very well. The healthcare plan is horrible, with a $1,500 deductible per injury — the catastrophic-injury insurance is not even really good insurance. ”

I certainly don’t know any more details than already provided here, but I can guarantee Volkmann is either FOS or just didn’t understand how it worked. There’s no such thing as an insurance policy that gives you a separate detectible for each injury. It doesn’t work like that, and it would be impossible to make it work.

Perhaps he should go get a real job and find out what shitty insurance actually is. I don’t know if the Zuffa insurance is good or not, but I promise he won’t find many other places to pay his premiums. The premiums for professional fighters must be astronomical.

Can fighters get their families covered under their "UFC" medical insurance? Did the health insurance coverage come before or after WME purchased the UFC. If it came before the purchase then has it changed?
