I know the UFC has helped certain fighters with therapy/rehab... Is it only for select fighters ($$$) though?

I'd like it if all fighters were given top quality health care. The UFC pays them 17% of revenue, right? They can provide better insurance...

Well they flew Penne out to a plastic surgeon so she wouldn't be disfigured for life. But idk tbh.

I believe they cover all medical costs that result from a fight.

They also unveiled an insurance program some years ago that covers a fighter's losses should he have to pull out of a fight regardless of the reason.

I believe they do but only for the last couple of years.

They have it, but Volkmann was pretty open about how shitty it was after he got cut. Obviously he was emotional but that doesn't necessarily mean the numbers he gave were wrong. Assuming the things he said were true, life is shit if you're not on the main card consistently

"To date, Zuffa event-related insurance has always met or exceeded Athletic Commission requirements and has covered all injuries sustained during competition."

"The new policy adds 24-hour worldwide medical life insurance and dental coverage, as well as emergency medical evacuation. Zuffa will pay 100 percent of the premiums for its athletes and have an employee dedicated to handling and filing all claims."

I remember the insurance policy was quite the talking point on here a few years ago when it was unveiled. It led to a lot of accusations of fighters pulling out of fights as theyre covered in the policy. I'm surprised more posters don't remember it

All fight and training camp injured are covered. Not fighter pay.

This is cery old news.

Fighters don't pay a premium.

No they don't. They don't pay shit to the fighter. They only pay for camp injuries.

Is that still in effect under the exact terms described?

If a fighter is released after a loss, does it get cancelled, effective immediately?

Also note that is "news" on the UFC's own website.
I've never heard a fighter talk about it and I've also never read about it anywhere else.
One would think that at least one new fighter would have raved about suddenly having insurance at some point...

Finally, family members included? Available for discount?

After Volkmann's cut this is what he said:
“They always claim that they treat the fighters so well. Yeah, they treat the top five per cent of the fighters well — the ones that are on the main card all the time. They don’t treat the rest of them very well. The healthcare plan is horrible, with a $1,500 deductible per injury — the catastrophic-injury insurance is not even really good insurance. There’s no retirement fund, there’s no signing bonus. You start off at six-and-six, you’re really not making too much money because you’re self-employed, so you’re paying the self-employment tax and you’re paying the regular tax and income tax. So you’re paying twice as much in tax. They claim they’re treating the fighters well, but they’re not, realistically.”

Interesting question, but even more interesting, is there a life insurance for an octagon death?

They always paid for fight injuries. Now they pay for training as well.

They also cover injuries and medical emergencies sustained outside of training at no cost to the fighters.

I remember when they first started doing this, we had an epidemic of fighter's pulling out of fights due to injuries.

Aren't they providing free ongoing medical care and injury rehab at the new HQ facility they've opened up Vegas?

They have healthcare

And no body knows what the ufc pays the fighters. As there not a public company its all just conjecture

How many fighters outside of the UFC are covered medically by their promotion? How many of them can actually find low premiums if they disclose their occupations as fighters? Volkmann is complaining about something that he can't even get without being in the UFC.

The taxes are not the fault of the UFC. Thy have no control over that. Again, Volkmann is bringing up irrelevant arguments.

He is right though that the UFC could pay better.

A quick Google search can reveal several reputable MMA news sites that explains the policy in greater detail.

I worded it wrong. They don't pay the fighters but do cover fighters medically for injuries sustained outside of training as well.

I'm just going by the info I find online.
