Media Does size matter in MMA

It's one of the most overrated advantages in MMA.

Unless you have a seriously noticeable and intimidating size advantage over your opponent (IE When Costa fought Hendricks, when Brock fought Randy, when Morales fought Brady, etc...) it doesn't really seem like much of an advantage.

Love that the first 2 replies are Big Poppa Pump references lmao 🤣

Being bigger and stronger usually helps, that's with any martial arts

Smaller guys who beat bigger opponents do so via having better skills, but being smaller and weighing less will never be advantages

Did Minowa win because size and weight aren't advantages? Or did he win via better skills and more grit?

You already know the answer.

Absolutely.

The Yakuza fixed the grand prix for Minowa, obviously
PRIDE officials created Yakuza as a front to give explanation to Minowa Man winning. It was the only way to palletize something so unexpected. Fortunately, everyone thought Yakuza was real and PRIDE "publicly" did away with the organizations efforts. Case closed, nothing to see here.

Sorry, I guess I should have said "So long as you are taking the meds that stop the voices in your head telling you that a conspiracy is happening" you know the answer.

Obviously it was the skills and grit. Sometimes my humor doesn't translate, that's on me lol

Yes.

BJJ and overall MMA skills are great but sometimes you can't overcome size.

I still think HW weight limit is dumb, let them 400 pound monsters in.

Larry is roided out his mind and the biggest he's been is 280lbs so he could still make 265lbs easy but he'd be against HWs not manlets.

UFC isn't really missing out on anyone with the limit. And it stops some guys from getting too fat.
