Does s---like this happen in boxing? Kickboxing? Bjj tourneys?

I wouldn't even call it an injury.

It's just...shit happens. If it's what I understood an inguinal hernia, it has to be fixed and letting him fight with it is...well, he won't be cleared by any commission.

Where the hell is the alternate for a main event? They need to really do that for every single main event now that has anyone with consistent injury issues.
The guy made weight, they aint gonna have nobody ready that quick

And its not even close... I love UFC but there is a lot of work that needs to be done to get even close to those most popular sports. You dont have shit like this in them
probably because those other sports you're speaking of are team sports. Injuries happen just as frequently In them. If one person gets injured though, It isn't the end of the world.

There are Injuries happening across the board In all sports. Let's not pretend like MMA is any different.

No.

MMA it’s all too common. More common than any other sport. It sucks for the fans. The fighters. For everyone.

People that travel to events to see fighter X get screwed. Should be compensated

In boxing, no, not to this degree. I was thinking about this too. Modern day MMA fighter push every inch and aspect of their bodies to the limit in order to get or maintain an edge, and in doing so expose their bodies (and likely their minds as well) to greater instances and risk of injury than do most athletes, even elites. Frustrating, but, I'm afraid, an unavoidable consequence of modern day elite MMA combat. Live by the sword, die by the sword stuff. What makes it exciting, makes it subject to a greater threat of injury.

It does but not like this. In american football if someone's out it's usually overshadowed because they still have a whole team. In combat sports I can't think of many others...or even promotions where this happens as frequently
I could be wrong, but it seems to me most injuries in other sports like NFL, MLB, etc happen in game. There's the occasional injury in practice, but nothing on the level we see with the UFC.

No combat sports has the amount of pulls outs the week of the fight like UFC does, its beyond ridiculous. Also boxers don't just spar and thats it. There is a boxing gym here and they do much much much more than just spar. they run, run run run run and run!!!!, they lift weights, and do many forms of different exercise.

He has a hernia supposedly, well hernia doesn't just suddenly appear over night, its a long build up, he must have known about in weeks or months in advance. Doesn't matter what it is though because they'll pull out with a nose hair out of place, its beyond pathetic at this point.

Normally, in boxing or kickboxing, if one retired from a match, one automatically loses the match.

MMA fans have selective memories

When was the last time a UFC event had to cancel or change it's main event?

Let's go in order:
Assuncao Moraes
Cejudo Dillashaw
Jones Gustafsson
Iaquinta Lee
Holloway Ortega
Dos Santos Tuivasa
Blaydes Ngannou
Magny Ponzi
Korean Zombie Rodriguez
Cormier Lewis
Oezdemir Smith
Khabib McGregor

That's at least 12/12 of the last main events that stayed intact

Stop pretending like this happens every other card

No, it's not normal, especially hours before the fight. Suspicious if they knew earlier and kept mum in order to sell more tickets.

It is a bitch move from WME for sure.

I remember a numbered card where the main event was scrapped the same day and the event was broadcasted by Fox instead of a PPV

I think it was a Hendricks' fight IIRC, or Hendricks was the co main and ending as the ME?

Not true at all.
MMA is very harsh on the entire body.

Pro wrestling is the combat sport which is the hardest on the body.

yes, it happens. pullouts are more common in mma than striking sports because wrestling is hell on the body, especially knees.

I can't think of any PPV main event getting cancelled in boxing on the day of the fight. The UFC looks like some amateur jerkoffs by comparison. Idk what's up with Whittaker but it wreaks of complete bullshit.

Is normal, especially if you're the champ and you're sh1t scared of losing the belt.

Fighters be like throwing demselves down the stairs

True...idk why they all train like aninals and insist on these crazy camps in addition to cutting weight. It's either over training or just poor training

...?rob gronk missed last Super Bowl. Todd gurley missed this Super Bowl. Wtf u talking about ass gape ho

Too many dumbasses training too hard and being careless.

Ass gape ho? Come on bro if you wanna insult me, do it the right way. Im not saying that there is no injuries in other sports, but there will never be football match(im talking about the real one that is the most popular sport in the world btw not your stupid rugby that only americans watch) that is cancelled bcs of injury like this fight and many others
