As most of you know, Cubans are very big on boxing, and have a large number of some of the most fudamental boxers in history.

So if Romero ends up getting the title, do you think the UFC can increase its income by attracting a new fanbase?

If so, do you think Dana is rooting for gay jesus?

Is PPV a thing in Cuba?
I doubt many people in Cuba would start pay $50 for a PPV unless it already is an established thing.
There are 11 million in Cuba but most of them are relatively poor, not PPV buyers, so it's not a huge financial market for the UFC. (Sure, there are cubans in the US too, but I doubt they'd be a huge factor)

Romero being a dick after a win with no where with all, trying to kiss luke rockhold when he's semi conscious doesn't.

No to gay Jesus.

In 2016, there were 2.2 million Cubans in the USA.... Im sure by now is like 2.5. Im sure there are more Cubans all over, Europe (spain), their natives migrate quite often.

Idk maybe your right. I wanted to hear your thoughts.... So thank you

If Romero was bringing fans they would have been here by now.

I'm sure whoever wins this Australian/Cuban rematch will turn into a superstar especially in Chicago where both Australians & Cubans outnumber even the polish population :/

I think if Dana is hoping either of these guys win for that type of reason he's hoping Whittaker can unlock the Australian market. There are a whole lot of Aussies and they do tend to love fringe violent sports

That said I don't think this is a fight where WME and Dana are going to have much of a rooting interest given neither of these guys are likely to become significant PPV draws either way

It's a hell of a fight if you're an MMA fan, one of the best that can be made but sadly if you're outside that world you'll probably never even hear about it

Well my GF is Cuban, she wants to see this fight.

Thats one new fan. Lol

Very weird question.

So who has brought lot of new fans, except Conor? Last years.

I doubt most people are focussing on two men kissing more than the KO that came before that

Most people, anyway

Believe it or not, i heard a little of talk about Ngannou from casuals like he was the next Mike Tyson

Lawl. Do you typically follow a new sport because there's a guy at the top of the game that's the same nationality as you???? Either you like the sport or you don't. No need for petty tribalism to make you interested in something you're not interested in unless your man is at the top

I recently played Rainbow Six: Siege and my nickname is HOEL HOMERO and for the first time some guy called me out on it and said he was from Spain and got into UFC because he loves Yoel Romero.
Probably a wrestling fan or some shit. Or just a cuban living in Spain.

Dude, you have no idea how common that is.

I'm from Sweden. We're usually not insane about sports. But Back in ~78 we had a slalom superstar called Ingmar Stenmark, and it's still infamous how the entire country literally stood still whenever he was skiing in a final. Every school stopped their schedule, every store close, people just left work, if they did not have a TV they just stood outside electronic stores to watch the TVs in the window.

We do not give two shits about slalom in general, but when we have a swedish superstar there's slalom fever.

The same thing has happened many times with other sports.
No one in Sweden barely even knew what curling was 20 years ago, then suddenly we get a team who makes the final multiple times and suddenly everyone is talking optimal sweeping tactics.
Same thing with tennis, it used to be huge when Björn Borg was around, and had a resurgence with Edberg, but now that we don't have any stars barely anyone cares about that sport.
Even fucking ping pong was big when swedish star JO Waldner played the olympics and broke the "Chinese wall".

A more recent example:
I was in NYC during the Football ("soccer") World Cup to visit some friends who'd never watched a game before, and they suddenly caught football fever and wanted to watch all the games at sportsbars. They only got into it because the US team did better than expected.

Thank you for replying to him... I wanted to say just that, but i wasnt going to say it.

It's just Rockhold and Weidman haters, the 2 biggest drawing, character-driven fighters in the division.

The JRE Yoel Romeo episode is going to be watched 20 times by his fanboys trying to find his breakout moment.
