Does rolling effect you at work?

Just wondering if any of you have run into problems at work due to "injuries" from rolling. Do bruises, scrapes, cauliflower ear etc cause any problems where you work?

Cauli dont bode well for me since I'm on the phone most of the day.

My teachers at school have mentioned it and they think I get into fights "downtown" is how they put it. I told them that I train BJJ and Muay Thai but I might as well have been speaking Farsi.

I don't know for sure whether it bothers anyone (I also don't care), but I'm pretty sure it does as I work in an investment bank and sometimes have to speak face to face with clients (although, not often, I'm only an assistant).

I've had a few black eyes, bruised and slightly swollen ears, loads of scrapes and cuts on my face, my hands are normally marked up etc... and people did used to mention it, but now it only gets mentioned if it's quite prominent. I guess most people know that I train to fight (they don't fully understand BJJ, but I've shown them some videos!) so they expect it.

It's funny, but it seems people are more adverse to people having injuries from training to fight than anything else. If I had a black eye from a game of rugby, no-one would be bothered at all by it. Strange.

Ive had a few black eyes and i've dislocated my shoulder and missed 2 days of work but Ive got 2 months of vacation saved up so if something happens I just take a day or 2 off

I got into a lot of shit over it when i worked at eli Lilly...i'd come in and have cuts and scrapes and it would make me laugh because i'd be in nice work clothes be all shaved and have a hair cut...be lookin real good and have this black eye or a busted lip numerous times they'd sit me down and ask me if i was having family problems and i'd just look at them with the saddest face and be like...my little brother beats me up...and they'd gasp and say "how old is he" and i'd laugh and be like oh he's four...then i'd just tell them that some boys like to play baseball and some boys like to play chess but i like to get beaten up...either that or tell them your dominatrix took a few liberties with ur face

I walk funny sometimes and have nice bruises to display. No one says anything though.

I train in the morning and then go to an office job..
Lots of times i walk in limping or with marks on my face and people stare.. or ask questions..
Most people are like "is that from your tae kwon do or what ever" and make a karate chop motion. I hate it.

Other then that.. I feel so tired some times and im hardly presentable... i try to stay at my deks and not talk to many people.. I look like i just got into a fight, which is exactly what happened.

As long as my hands dont hurt, it doesnt impair me to bad... Just my look, and my over all composure is that of a person who just got done fighting.. Tired, lazy, and utterly doesnt give a shit about how someone had a "tough day".. sitting in a desk..

Since I have been training for years I accept the fact that I am going to live with injuries. When I have a black eye or a swollen lip, people tend not to talk back to me or challenge me in the field, so I guess in some ways it can be good.

Funny, when I read the thread title my mind went in a different direction.
I sometimes catch myself thinking about how I would take coworkers down and how I would try and submit them.

I could take everyone at my work except maybe one of the head bosses, he's pretty big and seems like he could be agile, has done some TKD and muay thai. Then again, his son is a BB in TKD at age 12.... and I'm sure I could kick *his* ass :p

But mostly, I have a few bruises now and again. Once I had 2 black eyes at ones, but thank god they weren't too big.

I was just thinking that there are some jobs where it might help to look a little rough/like you've been fighting: police, security guards, bouncers, etc.

There's one guy on my crew that would be a handful, he looks pretty ripped and keeps to himself so I'm not sure.

The most dinged up I've been was a black eye and a gimpy leg after a Pancrase match. The girls in the office seemed to like the fact that I stepped up like that, even if I had my ass handed to me.

i just generally hurt from noob attempts at neck cranks. although im an electrician and my knees and back sometimes hurt as well.

just day dream about the class I just had and what we did etc. and who I could take...

i think about rolling and training all the time, i catch myself day dreaming at least a handful of times every day, and i am always sizing people up in my mind, which may get me in trouble some day.

i always have cuts and scrapes on my face, and when people ask i just say "training", i can't bring my self to say "jiu-jitsu" becuase they are gonna think it's like karate, and never get the name right if they do take a stab at saying itt.

I had a black eye for about a week and EVERYBODY was like, "you get into a fight? HUH HUH HUH?" I just did the ol joking respond of "You should see the other guy" and leave. A lot of people annoy me.

i work in a school and luckily i havnt been beat up too much. i just worry that i might catch some shit for a black eye.

i feel bad for some of your bosses the day they try to fire you. seems like some of you have already fought them in your mind a few times.
