Does powerlifting help your grappling ?

Wrong- off course it does. Perfect supplement for bjj. Make sure you do the lifts correct or else it will mess you up.

West side method, 5/3/1, lilliebridge method, the Cube. All powerlifting will help grappling if you're goal is to become stronger.

With me at least I do become a little stiff the day after but nothing some good mobility work won't cure.

Yes, of course it does. Not as much as getting better at grappling, but yes.

Without a doubt, yes.

Any sort of athletic movement will be easier if you're stronger. Notice I said stronger, not necessarily bigger.

Powerlifting is squats, bench presses, and deadlifts - big compound functional motions - so yes it will definitely help. It could just as easily be front squats, overhead presses, and stiff-leg deadlifts; or olympic squats, push presses, and power cleans - nothing necessarily magical about a specific exercise but they're good ones.

Is strength a SUBSTITUTE for good technique and other physical attributes? No, of course not. Will it help you to execute the techniques you already know, more effectively? Definitely.

BJJ requires no athleticism or strength, so 'nope' is the correct answer.

If you were asking about Judo or Wrestling, then the answer would be yes.

Powerlifting is perfect pair with grappling. Strenght that comes with powerlifting is very important for grapplers, there are times when you can muscle out from certain position, and its very benefitial when playing top game and pressure pasing

A lot of powerlifters seem to have terrible shoulder flexibility and tap very fast to any kind of shoulder pressure. That isn't good.

Go sit in the corner and count to potato.
