Data also doesn't account for everyone, so therefore we'll never know the true numbers sir.

Large datasets certainly provide a far more convincing argument than a small number of random anecdotes though, wouldn't you agree?

No, but it makes lack of money be not one if things you're miserable about.

I personally don't care enough about the subject to die on this hill.

I will say your last point makes sense.

Hell no.
The best things in life are really fucking free.
Money pays for the needless shit you fill an unhappy life with.

I think it’d be more correct to say that money can remove some of the stressors that can get in the way of being happy.

But then, how much of the stress that people feel over having less material wealth is actually necessary, and how much is a result of the culture of consumerism and comparison.

Real happiness comes from the basics IMO. Having people to love that love you back, feeling like your life has a purpose, that type of thing. Money buys pleasure, enough money buys you enough pleasure to distract you from a lack of the things that really matter.

Hell yeah it buys you happiness, especially if you have a family.

If you’re living paycheck to paycheck, you’d be worried about your family getting kicked out where you’re living.

If you have money, you don’t have to worry about that and that brings happiness knowing your family will be ok.

You can have money and still be grateful of what you have.

Up to a certain point it does. Many people are stressed about money, about how to pay for emergencies, personal debt, school debt, medical debt etc.

Any rich person who says otherwise is a lying fuck.

But what amount of money are we talking? 300K a year doctor/corpo/lawyer type or billionaire? As posted before, doctors and those fields making that much sound like pits of misery, stress and very little sleep. Being a billionaire would make me very, very happy and I'm confident I'll die before I'd ever get "bored" of the money.

I guess it depends on the individual on how much money is enough money to make you genuinely happy.

But for me I don't think it's that much money, I think just being comfortable in my own skin makes me feel very happy.

Regardless of how much money I have. I don't need very much. But enough to at least to cover the bills maybe a little more than that.

However, being super rich, I don't think would make me more happier per se. It might even have the opposite effect.

Used correctly it absolutely can like going to different countries or jet skiing with family but having a healthy bank account by itself won't. Use the money to gain more life experience doing more things and you should be right.

partial.

money cant buy people who love you genuinely or good health. but the rest of your problems you can buy away.

Money alleviates a lot of problems that can cause you to be unhappy but I don’t think materialistic shit can give you true happiness. Temporary, fleeting maybe, but not self appreciation and love, which is what true happiness is.

I can attest to being broke as a joke before in life and it certainly makes you unhappy lol

Money is only good for the things it can buy. Once my basic needs are met and my family is taken care of, I could probably reach maximum happiness with much less than $1million per year. I don't think I would find lasting happiness in something like a mega-yacht or a giant mansion. Maybe just a nice vacation here and there, some fancy meals, parties with friends...

If somebody really does need yachts and mansions to be happy then I feel bad for them.

drugs are commonly known for being very fun
You don't really need that much money to buy drugs, realistically, unless you are getting into the expensive stuff all the time. LSD is like gunpowder and dynamite... cheap and effective.

Be rich give a good base to reach happyness compared to be poor

But to appreciate more being rich one should not be born with money probably

I say it's temporary and it definitely doesn't keep you from being miserable. Also, if you derive happiness from wealth what do you have if you lose it?

It may be that some people are simply pre-disposed to depression and suicide, but plenty of rich, popular, and well-liked people end their lives while the poor and struggling go on.

Kurt Cobain, Chris Cornell, Chester Bennington, Michael Hutchence, Freddie Prinz, Robin Williams, Anthony Bourdain, Simone Battle, Don Cornelius, Rick Berry, Junior Seau, and Margot Kidder all killed themselves and all had some measurable amount of wealth and fame at some point in their lives.
