You need to work on reading comprehension as I never said he would come in at 189lbs. I specifically pointed out you stating that he's 173lbs when fighting at LW does not indicate there would be a huge weight discrepancy. As @TheMaster said 10lbs is easily doable for Khabib putting him in the low 180s. Thats not some crazy difference in weight. Couture giving up 50-60lbs on Lesnar was a big difference, ....arguing over 6-8lbs is silly.

The answer to the question is yes.

At the same time I would actually be shocked if Khabib returned for any reason at any time. He’s retired, and has too much going on outside of his personal fighting career. He’s done for good. He’s even said Islam losing wouldn’t bring him back. And thank the stars for that. Because that imo, would be the lamest thing ever. Like Nick fighting Masvidal to try to avenge his little brother. This isn’t the playground and hopefully adults in their 30s fight their own battles win or lose. Especially pro cage fighters.

But yes, I believe he’d get a TS at either LW or WW immediately (Maybe even MW if he asked for it). He still has that pull in regards to him actually fighting and drawing his fanbase.

There are no apples to apples in MMA. All fighters no matter the weight class have various physical attributes be it weight, height, reach....etc.

If by shittier you mean he would have less of an advantage fighting bigger/stronger guys based on his game then yes(which we all know hence the reason he went through hell making weight cuts. Its the same reason why Darren Till used to insist on making 170lbs....he felt he had a advantage physically.

If you mean Khabib would be detrimentally different version of himself(excess weight gain negatively impacting his game) then no unless it was a dramatic increase that had some obvious impacts. Plenty of fighters have moved between divisions. Khabib is not a special snowflake here in regards to moving up a weight class that he would still have to cut to make the limit.

He's not like the Usman or GSP who are always in wicked good shape and super lean. Khabib puts on fat. Khabib at welter weight would just be Khabib at LW with more body fat unless he got on the gym candy.

This is why Usman coming in 10lbs heavier would be a pretty big deal. Not only is 10 lbs a big deal in guys that size, it's really a big deal when the bigger man is significantly leaner as well. Usman is a full weight class bigger than Khabib. Not only is hea couple inches taller with a massive reach advantage, just look at their builds. Only on Sherdog could anyone be salty enough toward Khabib to say he's even remotely as big as Usman.

Of course he would get a shot. I'd even make him a live dog, maybe a 30% chance of beating Usman but he'd never take such a risk, he isn't willing to gamble with his undefeated streak in order to achieve true greatness.
