Does Jon Jones inspire you?

Jon Jones is one of the least inspiring multi-belt defense fighters there has ever been. Jon Jones is a physical prodigy with body specifications that no amount of being inspired will be able to emulate. He competes in a safety zone of LHW and depends on his body specs to keep the belt. NOW, if he were to move to HW and began to net wins and become champ, that, to me would be a much more inspiring thing.

Yeah I do judge him based on his car accidents and how he reacted to it, and his decision to drive while intoxicated aware that he could potentially harm or kill some innocent people.

Like I said his decision to drive while intoxicated, knowing full well he could harm or kill innocents says enough for me about him as a person. He could turn around learn his lesson, but that remains to be seen.

I don't know if I would say inspired, but the things he does in the cage are pretty amazing and I love watching his fights.

I also think he has done some really stupid things but overall is a decent guy.

Dude... Wanderlei eating steroids(facts not bashing) putting other peoples lives at risk for financial gain and fame... think about that and then think about what you just said.

Yes it's an apples and oranges comparison on the surface but at the core it has two people knowingly doing things that could potentially have a result ending in serious injury or death.

Yet one you praise because it was hidden under the guise of combat sports and business where one was a personal snafu.
 
You can be a champion and the GOAT WITHOUT being a role model, and that's what I like the most about Jon Jones. He doesn't give a shit if you like him or his antics, he's only there to be the greatest fighter on the planet, and he's on his way for doing so.

So, answering your question, TS: Am I inspired by Jonathan Jones? I'm not. Do I root for Jon Jones on reclaiming the belt he lost to himself? ABSOLUTELY.

Oh please, it was legal and you were encouraged to use steroids in pride, two very different things.

yep, Shogun is the greatest 7 and 8 (UFC) fighter during prime years (25 to 34) of all time. I would agree that there has probably been no greater fighter than Shogun with that atrocious of a record. I was thinking maybe Roy Nelson but Nelson's UFC record is actually better than Shogun's and Nelson has only been finished once in the UFC and that was by Hunt.

And man. I love Wanderlei. Even waited in 3 feet of snow to meet him once. But no way will I condone his actions. The same way I won't blanket him as a terrible human being for it.

Young rockstar athlete gets rich and famous too young in life and ends up on cocaine and in legal trouble - shocker.

His personal and legal issues aside he is a hell of a fighter and I thoroughly enjoy his matches.

If you are looking to professional athletes to be your role models then you are fucking up in a huge way.
 
He doesn't inspire and I don't look up to anyone. I think he's a bit of a dick and he's certainly done some bad stuff, but I don't know him personally and he may grow out of it, so I'm more or less indifferent about him as a person.

I appreciate his skills including his effortless trolling of Cormier though. That shit is hilarious.

Two willing participants who know PEDS are allowed in the sport is different then lets say a family driving along the road.

If all parties are allowed PEDS it levels the field I guess, these guys know what they are getting into.

If Jones smashes into a car and kills a family, that is way worse.
 
Somewhere inbetween. First and foremost a champion of sport, but not really a role model at all.
 
He shouldn't inspire anyone. He has insane physical gifts but he's also wasted them by being a criminal multiple times. He's been let off easy multiple times and still doesn't seem to give a shit. That's not someone you want as a role model.
