I think 20% is a bit harsh for .25 pounds. Maybe the fine should be more proportionate to the weight exceeded, something like:

< 0.49lb = 10%
< 0.99lb = 12.5%
< 1.99lb = 15%
> 2lb = 20%

edit: Having such a system would at least encourage fighters to try their best to weigh in as close to their opponents' weight as they can even when they know they won't make weight. There have been fighters coming in 5-10 pounds overweight and we all know that it's a very significant advantage.

Yes, he does. Over the sanctioned weight is a big deal, no matter the amount. It's also his second offense in the last three fights or so.

Yeah, let's feel bad for the guy that repeatedly misses weight because he is incapable of putting down the cheeseburgers.

You either make weight or you don't.

He was 1.25 over, not 0.25. The extra pound is already leeway, not the mark you're supposed to hit.

I disagree. Make a hard cutoff and levy a hefty fine.

i hope kelvin "sons" him worse than wonderboy did. i really do.

He doesn't take it (training/nutrition) seriously, therefore, he deserves punishment.

Frankly, he should've been fined more than that.

...and the money should be added to the KO of the night bonus or whatever.

Considering his history of this shit, he should be fined 70%.

Yes, he does. And fine him another 20% for being an idiot too.

So if your weight 4lb more then 20%? F* that. 20% is fair in my opinion for every weight exceed. There should be no chart like yours. Typical college boy that like to make everything more complicated.

Yes he should be fined, this is someone that was once welterweight champion and he cant even make weight at WW.

Doesn't matter if it's by a pound or by an ounce.

pretty sure the contract he signed says something like that, right? so there it is.

Didn't he keep going on about how great his nutrition was this time? How much everything has fallen into place and he's never been in better condition? Didn't he say his new guy was on top of everything and that he'd probably come in light?

What the fuck happened, Johny? Did you eat a whole pizza the night before the weigh ins or what?
