Does exist a double standard for W and M stoppage?

I just finished re-watching Medeiros Vs Trinaldo and Yancy was so rocked so many time, really bad and the ref let them continue, but as soon as Cyborg rocked Smith the fight was over.

What do you guys think?
Shouldn't the ladies take the same damage they think they can handle? As men do?

No fucking way the sexist alpha males of sherdog turn this thread into a shitstorm...<end_sarcasm>

You may be onto something, but then again you don't provide a large enough sample.

I haven't noticed any differences. I think some refs just stop some fights earlier/later than they should sometimes.

I guess the true question here is are there any scientific studies done on the difference of cerebral fluid, bone density, and pain tolerance differences between men and women.

If its woman vs woman i feel they should be given the same exact protocols as man vs man.

But what do i know. Im no fucking scientist lol

The reason the Medeiros/Trinaldo stoppage was so incredibly bad was because it was Dan Miragliotta reffing it. Any other normal human being would've stopped that a lot earlier.

I think there is. But one thing i've seen happening is that the girls tend to get innactive way easier than man, most guys get rocked on feet and keep throwing phantom punches and shit. i've seen girls take a clean shot, shell up and stay there waiting a miracle to happen. That's why refs might get confused...the girl still in the fight but not fighting back ? hell i'll stop it before she shuts off.

it's the refs not the fighter's gender...

I would say it all depends on the ref as well as knowing what fighters are in the ring as well. Some handle punishment a bit better than others and some inflict it. But mostly is referee dependant. I'm sure sometimes it happens though where they are new to the sport.

Tate/Nunes? Watch did they?

This is a whole other topic and an excellent point. I would think the ref should be the same gender as the fighters. I do think men feel bad for women getting theyre ass kicked and would be faster to stop it.

Great point.

It's just really hard to prove anything like that. Because the refs are inconsistent with their calls just among male fighters. Let alone comparing what a ref does with women as opposed to men.

I don't have an answer. Not a completely scientific or valid one, anyways.

I see your Trinaldo vs. Yancy and raise you Cyborg vs. Finney.

Then again that was Kim Winslow, who also let King Mo unnecessarily brutalize Lorenz Larkin. So all bets are off when she's involved.

there is absolutely a bias by some, if not most refs to stop female fights early. and i agree, it shouldnt exist.

Just let them bang, bros.

JJ vs Penne - Classic early stoppage.

When exactly, would you want this to end?

OH SHIT forgot about Kim Winslow. That woman wants to see seomeone dying in the octagon. Watch Marloes Coenen vs Cyborg. Coenen was being obliterated and she kept it going. Why this woman doesn't get flamed tho ? She's a bad ref and it's not about her gender.

That is your favorite ref though:p

Truth be told, I think who the fighters are factor in to how quickly the ref steps in. Guys who are notoriously durable seem to be given more chances to recover (Nog throughout his career, Henderson throughout his career, Sanchez against Lauzon, etc.) and guys who are thought to be on a much higher level than their opponent get quicker stoppages (Cyborg vs. Smith for starters). You'd never see a guy like Hunt get flash KO'd and have the ref immediately step in.

Refs are inconsistent as it is, I don't know that I would call it a gender issue yet.

I was rooting for Leslie, but when Smith rolled to her side I thought she was done when I watched it live.
