If this fight turns out to be for the vacant belt, would it change your view of the new champ? Before this, I didn't really care who won and was just rooting for a good fight, because Conor/Frankie and Conor/Aldo rematch both sounded like good fights. Now, I think Frankie has to win to make the belt legitimate. If Aldo wins, we all know the champ just got KO'd recently while Frankie could still be sold as the best FW who was avoided by Conor. Anyone disagree?

So one punch changes the legitimacy of Aldo being a champion?

I think that's a bit harsh, bro.

Nope. It's hard to change my opinion from a 13 sec KO and 0 title defenses.

I disagree, to an extent.

Yeah, he got starched by McG in 13 seconds. But being non-biased, he made a completely idiotic mistake in that fight (charging in with his eyes closed). I seriously don't think that fight was a legit barometer of how he would fare against Conor every time.

Plus, the dude reigned over the division for almost a decade prior to that.

I would still consider him champ, unless McG came back and beat him soundly again.

But that's just my personal take.

Only if they make it for the actual title. I still love this fight.

Not realy. Between WEC and the UFC, Aldo was undefeated for 8 year. He had a 15 fight winning streak. In no way do I think he is any less because he loss the same way people do not believe Conor is any less because he loss to Nate.

When you had the streak Aldo had, beating the monsters that he did and many of them multiple times, it is hard for me to change my view on him because of one fight. This is MMA where one well placed punch can defeat even the best fighters. Ask GSP. He is still a top 5 GOAT.

No.
For me Aldo/Edgar was always for the real belt since McGregor wasn't ready to defend.

For now, yeah. I'm not even sold on Conor being better than Aldo and think that was just one fluky, dumb move by Aldo being too angry, but it did happen. Would have been more satisfying if Aldo actually won his belt back from the guy who beat him, but at least if Frankie wins, they can say Conor ducked the real champ and that he's the best FW. It's the same reason most don't consider DC the best LHW.

Very sadly yes it does, Conor won fair and square, him not giving anyone the chance to beat him at FW its something bad for the new champ (if it happens).
