Ngannou had Gane tied up with wrist and arm control on both sides the entire time. Please explain how you guys think Gane was going to heel hook someone without his arms to crank it.

Ngannou swept him and won himself the fight.

Yup remember this upon rewatch, Francis did a slightly modified scissor sweep to get on top.

Ciryl's grappling is actually so bad that another but more skilled white belt in Francis is able to sweep him.

If Gane was going for a heel hook as some people believe he went for it without even his arms free to actually hold and crank it.

That's not even a white belt. That's some pre-UFC 1 level of grappling.

I remember debating the sweep vs heel hook back when it happened. Everyone was saying heel hook. Funny how after Jones now everyone is fine with it just being swept because "Gane has such a bad ground game". Just another adjustment looking back totally different from the moment.

Exactly, tired of these narratives shifting to fit their goals. Jones can just be good and that's why he was able to finish Gane round 1. He wasn't the first guy to attempt to take Gane down either.
