Does Anyone Still Have And Watch VHS Tapes

My buddy has a small room in the back of his house that he made into a media room. He has a VCR, CD, DVD, LASER DISC hooked up to a rear projection TV. He has such a collection. Pretty cool. And he can buy VCR tapes for like 50 cents at flea markets and gets some rare weird shit.

I had a heap of classic movies and old boxing, kickboxing and mma tapes and threw them out years ago.
There may be another box in the shed with some that I'm yet to rediscover.

So I've been told laser disc was better than or on par with blu ray. Is that true?

This could be movies you, things you recorded off T.V. or whatever else you recorded.

Me personally I got rid of mine years ago I regret it but I had no choice.
I should have kept mine. I had all the Miami Vice episodes on tape as well as a bunch of Shaw Brothers movies I taped from Saturday afternoon's Black Belt Theater.

I still have a few VHS tapes of Carl Sagan's Cosmos series

Didn’t we just have a thread like this? Anyways, I have a fuck load of tapes. Just bought more last week. 2 VCRs and a TV with a VCR built into it which is a new addition to my home. I’m in love. Just watched The Flamingo Kid on it last week. Earlier this week I was watching Freddy vs Jason in my living room on one of my VCRs.

For bonus points I use a VHS camcorder as well.
Love the flamingo kid! I learned gin rummy after seeing that movie!

Yeah especially this time of year. A good amount of horror movies are on vhs. If they aren't in one of my streaming services I watch em. Plus old school UFC and wrestling tapes

is this why my VCR repair business hasn't been doing well as of late?

I have a 6 hour VHS tape full of nothing but Eddie Guerrero vs Dean Malenko ECW matches. Just put it on and push play one time, no internet connection or wi-fi necessary, nothing but Malenko vs Guerrero in smoky bingo halls and high school gymnasiums in 1995 for literally all day of background noise around the house on a lazy day. And a Panasonic VCR most likely manufactured 2000-2001 that has outlasted PS2's, Xbox's, DVD players, Blu Ray players, even a 56" 4K curve TV and still looks cool reflecting the digital clock time off the living room entertainment center shelf.

Nope. I’m a die hard Blu-ray/4K guy though. VHS is nostalgia but an obsolete format.

I fully understand and support physical media but I don’t understand people that want to watch or listen to something in a bad format like VHS or cassette tape.

I would live to fi d vhs and tapes to watch to see how it would look at 4k tv

i actually just sold the majority of my collection recently. it was sad to see my beautifully curated collection (especially my horror collection) be decimated & hauled off to new homes. $1k for 114 tapes though, so it was a brief grieving process

Nah got rid of them a long time ago, thinking of dumping my DVDs and Blu-ray's next.
