Aldo has good striking but he still got hit by Edgar on various occasions due to standing in front of him.

This is probably an issue vs a power puncher like McGregor who also has a good reach advantage.

When you compare his striking to Barboza's, you can tell the latter has more mobility and in many cases uses it to defend a bad chin.

If Aldo wants to avoid the power shot, do you think he needs to move around more and frustrate McGregor, who likes to wing that left hand?

I think he will try to stay at kicking range and chop at Conor's leg.

I just find it funny that the whole perspective regarding Aldo changed in one evening.

Everyone was certain his chin was shot or Edgar was going to run through him, but he soundly out-struck Edgar and showed some of the best balance during takedown attempts outside of BJ Penn's infamous leg hopping, and some outright spectacular timing when Edgar shot, throwing him around with his own momentum. He didn't even need to utilize his best offensive tools, using a stiff jab and great counters whenever Edgar would plant and transition to strike.

More so, everyone kept mentioning USADA and Aldo passed all his tests and still looked to be in amazing shape, dispelling those who clung to that like Edgar did to Aldo's leg, trying to get takedowns.

As for the Conor fight, I truly believe Aldo to be a better all around fighter. I think he's a more diverse striker and he's definitely better in the grappling and on the ground. Aldo's problem is avoiding Conor's power shots and not being too aggressive. He needs to chop at Conor's lead leg and slowly break him down during the fight. Conor's reach makes that difficult. It's a very intriguing fight. Aldo looked absolutely phenomenal last night.

Aldo fights like this all the time. Conor just mind fucked him so hard that he totally forgot how he fights like and lost. I still think Conor isn't going down to 145 and straight to 155 now.

As long as he doesn't running hay maker Conor, he will do fine.

I think he needs to fight just like he did last night. Calm and collected and look to capitalize on any mistakes that Conor might make.

Conor won't be taking him down. That would be a mistake on Conor's part, and I doubt he can anyway. So Jose needs to feel free to throw out those leg kicks, look to counter punch and if Conor over commits to anything then Jose should look to try to take Conor down and work his superior bjj.

I think that's the best game plan for him.

That's not how aldo fights anymore. I saw him throw 2 leg kicks the entire fight. Why. Worried about the takedown? He has the best tdd in mma. and wasn't taken down once. So why not throw it.. Cause it's not his style any longer.

Disagree, he threw one In the last 10 seconds of one of the rounds when he knew a takedown wasnt a factor.

Standing still in front of a guy who got longer reach is generally not a good idea.

I don't agree. Why even give Edgar the opportunity? He was dominating the distance, the striking and the grappling with ease. There was no need to throw a single leg kick. Conor won't attempt to grapple with him. That leg kick will come into play.

aldo never beats conor. he was and is intimidated and once someone is in your head like that and has cleaned your clock it doesnt just go away after fighting a different person. he will be cautious and will get put back to sleep. people cant see for aldo its another pay day that he wants because if they offered him same money to fight anyone else in the division he would avoid conor like hiv. he cares less about the belt its just for $$$$

He was taken down twice in the third round of the first fight off leg kicks. He stopped using them for the rest of that fight. So yeah, it's the threat of the take down, and even with his great TDD Edgar can make it happen off a kick.

Again Mcgregor is also a southpaw which takes the outside low kick out of the game.

Mcgregor is a stylistically bad matchup for Aldo.
