The UFC bantamweight successfully made weight for his UFC Belem co-main event clash with Pedro Munhoz on Friday, but decided not to take the fight after his opponent weighed in at 140 pounds.

At first, UFC officials said that Dodson would not receive any money since he wasn’t fighting. However, MMA Fighting has confirmed that the UFC will pay him a portion of his “show money.” MMA Junkie first reported the news.

It was the first time in Munhoz’s career that he missed weight for a fight, and he cited hotel issues as the reason why he wasn’t able to hit the 135-pound mark.

”The hotel we are in has no bath tub, and the hotel they sent us to last night was out of hot water last night,” Munhoz told MMA Fighting on Friday. “I don’t lose weight in the sauna, I don’t sweat. I lose weight training, like I did yesterday, and I always leave two pounds to cut in the bath tub in the last morning. I lose that in 30, 40 minutes, easy.”

Munhoz and Dodson are hoping to reschedule this fight for an upcoming card.

He shouldn’t receive squat for being such a coward and NOT accepting a fight due to a petty 4lbs discrepancy

Youre telling me not one person in his camp brought a $30 sauna suit just in-case? Sauna suit + 5mph run for 20 min and youre down 4-7lbs easy. Amateur hour. We always brought our suits to wrestling meets. Standard practice.

Well that's better than nothing, but he really should get his full show money.

As far as the other dude that is one of the worst excuses I've ever heard, blaming a fucking bathtub.

Word.

Or even a garbage bag would work. Piss poor planning by Pedro and his team.

he showed , he should get paid his show money .
fucking cheap bastards

Vitor didn't get shit and he's been with the company since the 90s lol. They will give Dodson probably 5-10k of his 38k show money. I mean really that isn't shit for a guy who's won TUF and has fought for a belt twice. Vitor takes 300k show money so paying him even 10% of that can be excessive

I don't care if it is excessive the guy trained a full fight camp made weight while his opponent didn't he shouldn't get penalised .
They already can't earn their win bonus or a performance bonus .

Did Dodson make weight? I don't usually talk about fighter pay. But if someone misses weight, the other doesn't and the fight is called off, the fighter that made weight should get all of his/her show money.

They did exactly what was asked of them, and shouldn't suffer. They really should get half, if not all of the win bonus also.

Never said they shouldn't get money bud. It's just the way the business works. If they don't fight they don't get paid lol. Dodson should be happy he is getting something whereas someone like Belfort wasn't given a penny

That is a very flimsy excuse not to pay fighters. Another way to state "just the way the business works" is - 'fighters don't have a union so they're going to get screwed'.

Vitor actually did get some money.
I don't know how much, but he had made a post (maybe on instagram) thanking the UFC for giving him money for his training camp

It is what it is. You have to be on their good graces to get some change. I agree it's not very fair, but business is business, and that's why these guys face so many issues.
