Why say 'fuck the haters'? That just invalidates other peoples' opinions. I don't think the people disliking this movie are delusional 'haters,' they just didn't like the movie, for various reasons.

Also, I recommend the documentary 'I am Street Fighter.' I really liked that even tho i never played street fighter before watching it.

I have been looking forward to this movie since they announced it on the steam news, I have never watched a bad video game documentary. They always seem to hit a note for me probably more than any other genre of film lol.Anyway, A friend of mine said the same based on what he saw ardound the internet. So I was worried this was going to be lame. After watching though, I see nothing that backs this up. Other than some custom cut scenes tailored to the matches which to me just reinforces the fact that this is the best quality production for a VG documentary yet

Still the best video game documentary ever made, and one of the best documentaries of the young 21st century. It was a travesty that it wasn't even nominated for the Oscar, but war docs were all the rage that year (+ the Michael Moore hysteria), so instead of this superior (but more lighthearted) and brilliant documentary being recognized, we got Operation Homecoming, No End in Sight, Taxi to the Dark Side, and Sicko. The first of those listed, in particular, had no business at the Oscars.

My jimmies are still a little rustled about that.

I thought the King of Kong was an ok docu-drama riddled with misinformation. It was entertaining, but after reading about the records prior to the movies release and how they either lied about or omitted some records completely, I couldn't take it seriously.

It was about the records as maintained by this subculture of retro-gamers. I don't understand what you're talking about, but the filmmakers were documenting this world, and not necessarily it's lack of touch with the world at large. The fact that they wouldn't acknowledge the record from Steve was a central concern of the movie.

It was so much better than ok I don't even know how to respond to that comment. I've never had a movie where I was able to rope people in despite their protests that they don't care about gaming at all, then EVERY SINGLE TIME sit back as they're sucked in with fewer than 5 minutes of viewing, and without exception stay glued to the screen to the last frame. Well, I disagree. An 8.2 on IMDB and a 96% on RT doesn't mean I have to like it or withhold my opinion about it.

The fact is that they didn't present all the facts regarding the records and straight up omitted some of them. They don't even mention Tim Sczerby or the fact that he beat Mitchell's record in 2000, but you can actually see his record at the top of the Twin Galaxies leaderboards at one point in the film. Pretty lame.
