Losing to Rashad doesn't mean a whole lot, and he did submit Shogun.

Sonnen didn't deserve his title shot against Jones. For that matter, he didn't deserve his second shot against Silva, having failed his piss test after their first fight. But since the UFC has never been about "deserve" this is par for the course.

Losing to Rashad is a more important mark on his resume than beating a clearly in decline Shogun.... so yes, it matters.
