It would be extremely hard for someone to break this record or come even close to it.

I think it's an unbreakable record. Just like Gretzky career total points record.

112-154. He didn't get one at 115 and 118, so it could've been even more.
It could be done, but it's probably not going to happen. I mean Inoue could try but I don't think he makes it through Featherweight let alone Super Featherweight or Lightweight.
He's also the only boxer to be a champion in 4 different decades.
1990s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020s.

Boxing as we know it has been around for 150 years. Mathematically speaking, if boxing doesn’t go extinct in the next 2000 years, somebody will break that record, especially if they keep adding more weight classes and more belts.

how the fuck did he manage to get a title shot next month is the real question we should be asking, i didnt even realise until i looked at his record today, he hasnt won a fight since 2019

Actually, Gretzky's all-time points (goals) record was recently broken by Alex Ovechkin back in April.

There was also a time when people thought Kareem’s record would never be broken in the NBA. Any record established within a mere century is laughable in the grand scheme of human history. If it’s not broken 20 years from now, it will be 2000 years from now. Thinking otherwise is retarded.

Yeah. It's only a matter of time. Records were meant to be broken regardless of how insurmountable they appear to be.

“Although Pacquiao hasn't won a fight in nearly six years, the WBC's rules state a former champion can request a title fight after coming out of retirement. After announcing his return, Pacquiao was the No. 5-ranked welterweight by the WBC. He is ranked behind Devin Haney, Souleymane Cissokho, Conor Benn and Egidijus Kavaliauskas.”

A couple of Neil Degrassi Tyson Furys in here.
Breaking down the obvious.

Right. It's a joke of a clause in the WBC's rules & regulations.

Record can be broken. But it won't be by such a lovable little scamp who provided such entertaining flights.

It took 34 years for Kareem's all-time NBA scoring record to be broken by LeBron. It took 26 years for Gretzky's all-time NHL goals record to be broken by Ovechkin. Both of these historical sporting moments happened within just the last couple of years.

RJJ going from champ at 154 to beating a 226lb HW champ is close.

His goal record was surpassed but not his overall point record. He's still 936 points ahead of Jagr who is #2.
I mean if you count assists then Gretzky is still at the top. He also has records in many other categories. The most prestigious record in the NHL, however, is career goals scored and Ovechkin just surpassed him.

Roy was never a world champ at 154 (JMW). He was champ at MW, SMW, LHW & HW. As an amateur he was robbed of Olympic gold at 156 lbs (Light/Junior Middleweight), which is close enough, but this thread is about professional achievements.
