Do you think Overeem would be the best HW in the UFC/MMA ever if he had a better chin?

Let's just say he had an average chin instead of a weak one. Would he be the GOAT at HW. Tell you the truth, I think he might be. I don't see someone like Fedor beating Reem. The only thing that would be Reem's weakness would be his cardio, but cardio can be improved. A chin can't.

So that being said, if Reem had a decent chin, would he be MMA's best heavyweight?

Chin/heart. He quit rather than get KOd a few times.

I feel if Arlovski had a granite chin he would be nearly unbeatable.

No. He just had trouble adapting his striking defense from bigger K1 gloves to mma gloves.

I think it's more of a case of this than his chin - in other words he relied on a high guard too much and relied too much on habits that work well with bigger gloves.

No because "Arlovski with a chin" would have whooped him.

I mathematically compared Fedor's greatest wins to Overeem's greatest wins, and did not subtract points for Overeem's losses due to having a weaker chin than Fedor.

Fedor came out on top.

Fedor is goat heavyweight to this day, regardless of whether or not Overeem has a weak chin.

It's not like he never had one but the guy is in his twilight so it's now made of glass. He is now morphed into Tactireem which is a style he should have adopted in his golden days.

To Mr. Wings, that's great bud. But that doesn't answer my question. No need to over think this or try to change it into a this or that thread. I simply asked do you think Reem would be the best with a better chin. No more no less. Can you please answer that without smart ass remarks? Thank you.

Econoreem. Get it right.

At Heavyweight, everybody can get knocked out. Hunt, Rothwell, Junior Dos Santos, Nelson, Big Nog and other 'granite' chins have been cracked. To be the best heavyweight doesn't mean you can't get knocked out or should be unbeaten. As long as you can beat anybody by superior skills I think you're a contender for that title. And Overeem certainly is.

Exactly, THIS. in the last 4 fights he has improved his striking defense hugely, this is the main reason for his winning streak. Props to him though for learning and not having ego and staying the same.

Even a really fast accurate puncher like JDS was struggling to hit him

Screw the chin nonsense, he needs better defense

If Cain trained smart and didn't get injured he would have been the best UFC HW
If Brock was 10 years younger and trained UFC in his teens he would have been the best UFC HW
If Mighty Mouse was 6'4" 265 lbs with all his skills he would have been the best UFC HW
If JDS KTFO everyone like he did Cain he would have been the best UFC HW
If I were the best HW in the UFC I would have been the best UFC HW

His chin is fine. You try getting hit in the face by a pro heavyweight and see if your lights stay on.

I think he is CURRENTLY the best Heavy.

If he had the heart and if he was humble he would learn a lot more most likely. Reem never had a glass jaw until these past few years. That just comes with time in the sport sadly.

A decent chin would still have been KOed by the shots he took against Bigfoot Silva

he cant go into deep waters without drowning, many many flaws beside bad chin

Looking at all his lossed. He never went down to any light shots from light hitters. They were all heavy shots from big hitters or combos from mid power guys. Even his loss to light hitting guys like Arona he was mounted and just gave up (if I recall correctly he went into the fight on short notice and had an injury). He just freezes for few seconds when he gets hit hard and stands there covering up until he recovers or they stop. He doesn't really clinch when he is hurt even though he has a great clinch, he doesn't shoot when he is rocked either. He used to be more hit-able and if you stun him he is like a video game character where you get a short limited time to combo on him. And occasionally he blows his cardio trying to finish ala Travis Browne or his guillotine vs Shogun 1.
