How many fighters (if any) have you stopped being fans of because of how avid fan boys have defended them or hyped them etc?
Personally, I read so many quotes on here about how i used to like them but those nut huggers have made me a hater. Well im sorry to piss on your parade, but if your so fickle that a die hard fan or casual scr*tum stroker has put you off, then maybe you weren't a fan in the first place.
My perspective: I have NEVER changed my perception of a fighter due to his army of moose knuckles. So if you have changed.... tell me why your so weak...

They don't ruin the fighter's reputation, but they make it very sweet when the fighter loses.

Think about that train of thought for just one second. It's super fucked up. Change yourself; stop being an asshole

My favorite type of fighters are the ones who piss the fans off like Bisping or Jones. It just makes it hilarious to see them whine when those guys are winning.

A fighter's fan base shouldn't affect your opinion about a fighter,imo
It's a personal choice

So who were you dickriding that got derailed?
Nobody. Seriously, what you said just reflects so poorly on you. You have the attitude of someone who just wants to see the world burn. Someone who likes to see others hurt. Then the fact that you think that anyone could read that and not think you were a complete jackoff of a person, that I must have been dickriding someone who lost to take issue with it, it's almost too arrogant and ignorant to be believed. Stop being an asshole; change yourself.

I've tried to like Conor...I really did try.

The dick riders only bug me when there's no reason to have so many dick riders in the first place, people like Sage. I mean, c'mon, guy didn't even have a top 20 fight yet. It makes it look like the only reason to ride him is because they wanted to eat his babies.

No, I sometimes did want to see a certain fighter lose though if a fan base is very obnoxious. I was so happy that Machida lost to Shogun as his fan base was so annoying and dismissive of anyone that didn't think Machida was a god or something. I have since been more mindful about it and not disliked a fighter because of stupid fans.

Oh nevermind, you were dickriding Ronda.

What Holly did to her was delicious. I'm glad it hurts you.

Honestly fighters like Honda bring this on themselves. You talk of arrogance in your statement here but it is also on display at epic levels in the UFC and other fight orgs. Easy to feel a certain way against fighters for the personalities they portray. I understand what you're saying too but this is the hurt business, most people aren't here to be intellectual, they're here to see blood

Conor.
While I can understand a scripted jab at another fighter, his fans ruined it for me.

It is not just the fans though.
Some of his disrespect is cringe-worthy, but I could stomach, same as I did with Sonnen.
I mean, I was not a big fan of Sonnen, but I laughed at most of his jokes and had no problem of him winning.

But Zuffa incentivizing fans to curse at Aldo at the world tour was just what did it for me.
That was the turning point.

And I disagree with you.
Not changing your mind when you think you were mistaken is not a sign of strength, but of weakness. Only pathetic losers are afraid to change their minds because they fear what others will think of him.... Just saying...

It's a double-edged sword. A loud-mouthed fan base is the single best way to promote a fighter. You don't need to spend millions on ads because numbskulls like McGregor/Rousey fans will spend every moment flooding every forum they can with absurd claims to stir the pot and steal attention. It works really well as a means to cross barriers into fields like acting, it also brings national media attention and of course money. But it comes at a price. You have a deadly mix of backlash from people like casuals sick of hearing about how Ronda can destroy NFL players as well as hardcore fans sick of the "undeserved" attention in their eyes. Once the person falls the "unbeatable" band-wagon army disappears and they are left alone to bear the full backlash by themselves.

So of course the fighter gets more money and opportunity and fame from such a quick rise, but their egos take an absolute pummeling. I'm sure people like Ronda and Conor don't like seeing shoops and gifs of themselves getting brutalized, they don't like having to answer the same questions for months about their loss and how much it sucks, they don't like their family and loved ones getting harassed online, or avoiding waves of paparazzi trying to get pictures of their busted faces. So I guess it just depends on the fighter if the money is worth the eventual humiliation. Something tells me the money is worth it for Conor, probably not for Rousey.

It's yore.

conor ruined himself. his nutthuggerz are just retarded. other huggers are not as bad as those.

i have disliked conor since day one (the fight w max)

You must be a special kind of douchebag to dislike a fighter for his fans, no matter how annoying they can be

Specially if he's neutral and is'nt encouraging them to be like that, wich is the case 9 times out 10

If most of a fighters fan base act like this when talking of their favorite fighter it would eventually start to turn me off the guy to be surrounded by grown men who act like teenage girlz in heat and can't be objective.
