I hope he fights at least 2x a calendar year. I know that not saying much. But Dricus only fought twice last year and only twice this year so far.

Seems like the norm now.

In fact I was looking at Anderson Silva & GSP MMA record. The most Anderson ever defended in a calendar year is 3x once. While GSP never defended his title more than twice a calendar year.

So don't expect Khamzat of all people to be defending his title 3x a year. It's very rare if we're going by history with previous champs.

Four a champ twice is good going when it's five round rights.

Based on the last few years I don't see Khamzat doing more than one fight a year.

I hope he does fight frequently. There are a lot of interesting fights at MW right now and most of them involve him.

I hope he doesn’t become a one title defense a year champion and he can stay healthy and active.

He should face the winner of Imavov vs Borralho next, right? Maybe do Fluffy vs RDR for next after that.

I don't think Khamzat will be active, he might retire or do some weird shit.

My man has had 9 fights in 5 years.

He had 3 of those in a 3ish month span of 2020, so 6 fights in the last 4 years.

Not even trying to hate but I hope he's more active than that.

I hope so to.

Now that he's champion, I hope he's more motivated to fight more actively.

I think he's firmly settled in at MW and his body has adjusted properly to it. If Chimaev ever had cardio issues before, he sure as hell doesn't anymore, and I hope he's an active champ. In a perfect world he likes the big money and gets addicted to the paydays and fame. The couple times DDP did land clean on Khamzat, there was definitely a measured response from Khamzat though, didn't like getting tagged good. Not a lot of takeaways against Khamzat's game after that performance, but it wasn't flawless either.

Honestly, I don't know if DDP even had a gameplan walking in to that fight. I really don't think I have seen worse fight IQ unfold over the course of a fight than I did last night. I admire DDP's toughness to gut it out, and taking a humbling like that is hard to swallow and he did it with class.

I really didn't like Khamzat interrupting Dricus' moment apologizing to his countrymen and Khamzat interrupting him though. Sorry, that was 100% a fucking dick move.
