Do I consider him GOAT?
- Fuck no
Do I consider him LW GOAT?
- No. He didn't fight a lot of guys, mainly people that were a stylistic threat. Prime Tony, Charles, Nate, Kevin Lee and in newer times Chandler. That's 5 people that were available to him, 2 of them still are. Nate and Tony are done, Kevin is almost done.
Do I think he could've become LW GOAT?
- He was almost there. He is one of the best LWs in UFC history. He didn't need much, I'd be content with any 2 of the 5 I listed. But Dustin, Justin and Conor do not make a GOAT. Especially not Dustin and Justin. Right now I can't say that there is a LW GOAT at all. Used to be BJ, Khabib looked like he'd beat his resume, but didn't. And now it's a stalemate.
Do I think he should've retired?
- That was his to decide. He had a family tragedy, his choice how he handles it.
I don't deal in hypotheticals, lots of people say he would've beat this guys, smashed that guy, whatever. Bottom line is he didn't. When someone is a worldbeater in one fight and then fights to a decision vs the Horschers and Iaquntas of the UFC, it's safe to say that we don't fucking know. For all I know Nate Diaz might have out cardio'd him and subbed hit. We don't know.
