I think that's a VERY stupid question.
He was amazing. And I am sad to see him go.

but abso-fucking-lutely NO ONE can say if it was or not time for him to retire.
That is a decision only he could make, and we have to respect it.

As simple as this.

Well, it's not that stupid of a question when most (based on the poll) wish he continued on fighting.

No, he had more to give.

Course that's cause I'm greedy and liked his scraps.

Man's decision in life is far more important than some Just Bleeder's Opinion...

Sorry, but it is beyond asinine.

Khabib left because his father passed away.
Yes, most would love to see him continue fighting (myself included), maybe in his father's memory and all.
But we have to respect his decision, which was his alone!
Like I said, it sucks, but that's reality.
Dwelling on it is stupid. Dwelling on his decision is (IMHO) a disrespect towards someone who does not deserve it.

I would have less issue if this pool were for GSP, who left just because he felt was the time.
But when your father (and main trainer) dies??? That's quite different.

He did what Conor said he was going to do. Came in, took over, got rich, got out. Conor nailed steps 1-3 but botched the landing on #4.

I think when you're undefeated and a champion like that all that's left for you to do is eventually lose. So fair play for winning the fight game and getting out before that happens on top without taking much damage getting rich, he won.

Khabib became so advanced in his weight class that he could actually fight all the contestants in the same night especially Conor and Oliveira and go through them like water . He is the kind of a guy...

I mean he had 3 (three) title defences in total, but it's probably guys like this poster here blowing smoke up his ass that made him think "I'm the greatest ever, I'll retire now."
Delusional. His resume isn't close to most of the other GOAT contenders. Sorry about that, but it's true.

To be a real GOAT contender imho he'd have to have had a handful more defences at LW, a win or two at WW wouldn't have hurt either.

First off I never said I don't respect his decision, In fact I highly respect it and thinks it's the best thing he should do considering the circumstances.

But I'm just saying, if his father never passed and his mother never asked Khabib to promise he'll retire after his fight with Gaethje. I see Khabib still giving us amazing performances for the next 5-6 fights imo. I think he would have won all those fights and made it more definitive in where he stands with the rest of the greats.

Obviously, It's just wishful thinking and just to have discourse about this topic on a site that encourages discussion. Nothing to take too seriously.

Also Khabib blessed us with EFC...

I can easily forgive loosing the artistry of his fights for furthering the Sport of MMA!

Naysayer, what did u say?

Now it's been more than a year that he's retired. What's your thoughts on it now?

For me, I understand why he retired and respect his mother wishes for him to retire after fighting Gaethje.

But I think if it wasn't for his mother wishes or his dad passing. He should have fought at least 5-6 more times or something like ending it at 35-0.

He was his best version of himself at retirement. Basically unbeatable. Knowing6 ivermectin would have saved my dad would haunt me too though.

Don't think so because I think he had potential to prove he is the GOAT. That said, it's none of my business and my opinion is irrelevant as is pertains to how someone lives their life or how they should go about their career.

Look, I apologize.
I feel, like you are "judging" his decision, and that grates on me, for I know his pain (losing a father).

Just like Werdum was a stylistic nightmare to Cain, I think Khabib had a very hard test in front of him in Charles Oliveira.
A pity we didn't get to see it.

Yeah, best decision in MMA history. Eventually, the years and years of being the top guy would have led to a loss as a result of every single person in the division training specifically for him and his style. Most great champions have said that they want to retire around age 30. Khabib was the only one to actually do it. Personally, I wish Fedor did that.

No need to apologize. I'm completely aware now where you're coming from. You can obviously relate to Khabib when it comes to losing his father.

But it's just wishful thinking on my part in wanting to see him fight. It's all good. It's meant to be.

I think he had plenty more to give and would still be champion today. However, when his father passed away he chose to step into that mentor role for all the other fighters around him and that too is admirable. Wish we could have seen more but I get it.

Honestly, the only thing i loved that he did was take out the conor trash.

I had predicted years before khabib would be a handfull for anyone, back before reebok.

Then he always got hurt and there went my interest.

All he had to do was fuck up conor because, one i was absolutely sure of it so i didnt want to be wrong, and 2, him winning would be better than smelling all of conors fans farts.

They should have moved down. If you had let them know how important it was to you, they probably would have.

Not Khabibs problem what Conor had done with his time prior to their fight. They fought, he took his soul, and that was that.

Stop with the BS, it's over.
Yea move down to beat a Manlet, makes sense. Usman and Colby aren't the ones bragging about beating LHWs in practice

From a fan's perspective, of course not. He never fought a tough stylistic match to prove himself. As far as him personally, I don't even care to speculate.

Khabib "Coulda' been a contenda' for the GOAT" Nurmagomedov
What's a "tough stylistic match"? He fought top strikers, D1 and olympic caliber wrestlers, 4 or 5 BJJ black belts. We're kind of running out of styles here.
