Now it's been more than a year that he's retired. What's your thoughts on it now?

For me, I understand why he retired and respect his mother wishes for him to retire after fighting Gaethje.

But I think if it wasn't for his mother wishes or his dad passing. He should have fought at least 5-6 more times or something like ending it at 35-0.

Khabib became so advanced in his weight class that he could actually fight all the contestants in the same night especially Conor and Oliveira and go through them like water . He is the kind of a guy...

As a fan, I wished he didn't as he was at the top of the game and I loved watching him.

But his choice to retire, it's so hard to retire on top in this game. Only Khabib and GSP have pulled it off.

But here's the sad truth about mma - no one is ever truly retired. GSP almost boxed Oscar de la Hoya ffs

It was a very wise move. The only reason he has any claim to some sort of GOAT status is being undefeated (certainly not his competition level). Now he’s rich, well respected, and has his own MMA organization. Can’t beat that, lol.

Reasons are good and not really my business, but just for watching him compete he had more to give. In his prime, dominant. Good fights out there like Olives and challenge for the WW belt.

He wanted to retire 4 years ago before he even got the belt

He said it in this interview, he was fighting only because his father wanted to, it doesn't surprise me at all that he retired after his dad passed away

I think it was a good time to retire what with his father passing away, his mother wanting him to stop fighting. He was also set financially for life, healthy and obviously wanted to continue the teaching legacy of his father and he's doing that and giving people from his region more opportunities in MMA.

It seems like he had a clear plan for leaving MMA and might have done it a few fights sooner than he would have otherwise had his father not died but I think his plan was to retire in his prime and focus on teaching and MMA promoting.

I understand why he left on top... but I don't think he stayed long enough to solidify himself the GOAT.

He might be GOAT of lightweight division but definitely not all-time GOAT.

Would have loved to see him stay on and demolish everyone for a few more years.

Alas, he's a promoter now and is living pretty good, legacy is solid, income is coming in very well, he seems happy. So maybe it was a good decision after all.
