Do you think Khabib is bothered by being forgotten?

He doesn't seem like a very selfish person to me. Plus he's now training others.

Yes, I actually thought he would settle down in a quiet life in Dagestan, maybe his fathers death changed that though. But he seems very attentive to have a presence in the US.

I don't think he cares at all, he seems focused on his promotion and on being a coach for his guys. If anything everyone else is the one that constantly asks him if he's going to return to fighting.

I also think its silly to think that no one recognizes Khabib's impact. From the Dagestani handcuff to the prominence of the Dagestani fighters, everyone looks at those things as part of Khabib's impact on the sport.

If anything he did what Conor claimed he was going to do. Remember "we're not here to take part, we're here to take over"? Well, the Irish fighters never really took off much less take over but the Caucus fighters sure did.

The amount that he has to talk about himself and other fighters clearly signals he's not fully comftorable with his legacy and how he left the game. It's an eternal question, could Khabib have been the best fighter of all time had he pushed his limits? But he didn't, and wasn't.

Forgotten is silly. He is remembered and constantly talked about in relation to 3-4 up and coming or established fighters that are having success. If that continues he'll be the godfather of the style and their title runs if they occur.

He just retired too soon to be mentioned with GSP, Aldo, etc. with the general fan base. He retired at the time most guys are putting icing on their legacy cakes.

If Charles beats Justin, though, that'll be interesting to Khabib's legacy.

to be fair, Khabib didn't necessarily create that culture himself. Sambo was already prevalent at that side of the world as was MMA competition. there just was never many great competitors -- and let's not put the cart before the horse -- Khabib was champ for a few fights, but no one else has established that region as a dominant force yet. At least not in terms of title contenders.

he has paved the way, though -- that's extremely valuable.

by MMA math he still beats everyone at LW

if gaethje beats oliveira he'll be a paper champ. the guy who khabib went easy on because his family was front row.

if Islam gets the belt it will only add to khabib legacy

Yup that's why he's always in the news he has to comment on this that n everything else .he's an attention whore izz normal

In all of these interviews and press conferences you see young fighters mentioning Conor and GSP, or even veteran killers like Aldo for changing the game and inspiring them. Nobody ever mentions Khabib.

This seems to be bothering him as seen by him calling himself the best fighter for the last 10 years or whatever the quote was and taking jabs at OGs still fighting like Aldo.

You have the OG type guys (guys like wand, Royce, Rampage, etc), the GOATs (Fedor, GSP, Jones) and the game changers (Conor, Rhonda types) and then khabib falls in this weird no mans land where he is basically forgotten already and quickly having his legacy surpassed by the Yans, Izzy, Usman type still fighting.

He seems irritated. Meanwhile you never hear Fedor say anything about his legacy, truly no fucks given and true alpha behavior
Another Khabib hate post/thread by D1 Loser.

Khabib doesn't just occupy a little room in your head, he's got the whole fucking block rent free.

I legit feel sorry for you.

I never said Khabib created it, that would obviously be absurd. I just said that in a sense he pulled off what Conor claimed he was going to do with the Irish by leading the way for fellow Dagestani fighters. There haven't been any other champs yet but there are contenders in multiple divisions(Askarov at FLW, Said at BW, Islam at LW). If you include the Caucuses in general then you can add Khamzat as well.

Meanwhile no other Irish fighter really took off. I thought Duffy might, he was really good. But LW is such a shark tank that even really good fighters like him can struggle to climb the ranks.

Yeah he misses the spotlight. Otherwise he would stop talking about his Connor fight from many years ago or chime in about the state of WMMA.

Forgotten?
<bball1>

You can't keep his name out of your mouth! Only a year ago he topped the largest ever GOAT poll for MMA with 3x the votes of anyone else. Im not saying he is (I put him around #8), but he is still one of the most talked about fighters on the planet.

You have the biggest case of KDS on this site.
