Until it’s proven, I have no idea. I would like to say probably not, but there is enough smoke to cast doubt.

He was pushing a lot of bullshit during the Covid pandemic which ruined a lot of lives, but that’s not criminal. If he had knowledge of GoF research then he may not technically be a criminal as it was done in China who may not have such laws. Being a US citizen himself though makes it grimy at best and criminal at worst. I’m not a lawyer. Hell, it hadn’t been proven he was involved in that, but it doesn’t look good. Accepting a pardon with suspicious back date doesn’t help his appearances any.
 
truth be told without the lockdowns Covid would have killed a lot more people, and virsuses that can jump species also develop and change as they spread. The variants were nothing compared to what we would have gotten without the precautions. You people are pissed off because more people didn't die.

Obviously not a criminal. If he made decisions on Covid or any other disease that turned out to be wrong in 20/20 hindsight, unfortunate but his decisions generally were based on scientific consensus, not him coming up with wild ideas of his own. If you had doctors and disease scientists as a whole casting ballots on the same issues, they'd probably line up pretty close to what Fauci did during his career

Like even if the vaccine did have very rare serious side effects, they should compare rationally vs the serious side effects that covid can have. One way I like to put this, is that covid itself is a "covid vaccine" in the sense that goes in your body and provokes an immune response, but the difference is it's contagious, and is evolved with zero regard for your safety. In comparison, all the research and testing on the vaccine entailed great effort to ensure that it's safe

Prompted by controversy over dangerous research and recent laboratory accidents, the White House announced Friday that it would temporarily halt all new funding for experiments that seek to study certain infectious agents by making them more dangerous.

Opponents of this type of research, called gain of function -- for example, attempts to create a more contagious version of the lethal H5N1 avian influenza to learn which mutations made it that way -- were elated.

''Brilliant!'' said Peter Hale, the executive director of the Foundation for Vaccine Research, which opposes such experiments. ''The government has finally seen the light. This is what we have all been waiting for and campaigning for. I shall sleep better tonight.''

The announcement, which was made by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the Department of Health and Human Services, did not say how long the moratorium would last. It said a ''deliberative process to assess the potential risks and benefits'' would begin this month and stretch at least into next year.

I mean , he quite clearly skirted the laws Obama put in place to continue dangerous research outside of the country . He also lied to congress . He's not Osama Bin Laden. But he's not an innocent public servent
