Do you think DC could be heavyweight champ?

Why isn't Shane Carwin in this discussion. He was the interim HW champion at one point and he would definitely give Cormier fits in rounds #1. Outside of that he could very well beat any current UFC HW.
 
I think he could have won the title if he stayed there, and that to me shows how much of a beast Jon Jones is.

And yeah he could go back and win it, if Jones wasn't around the HW scene.
 
Even at light heavyweight, he is carrying around a lot of excess weight. He'd could move up and be a top 5 heavyweight, but I think he do better moving down to middleweight.
 
I think he matches up well against Werdum considering his previous wins against top HW grapplers.

Easily. Cormier was better at HW than LHW. Whatever the reason, at LHW he has been having closer fights outside of Cummins and Hendo. I realize this could be that the fighters are better but what he did to Barnatt literally flipped my universe on it's head. I sure don't think he would have gassed as Cain did and could easily beat everybody with questions around Cain, Miocic, Werdum, JDS and the Reem. If there was a HW tourney, I'd likely put my money on him as the guy might be the best competitor to ever compete in MMA. Jones may be the greatest fighter but Cormier is just such an amazing competitor.

So bummed he got hurt. I really think he may have pulled of the upset as I don't see him taking round 4 off like he did before. I think that loss turned him into a different fighter and we saw him turn up the heat, big time, in the Gus fight. I also wonder what would have happened if Jones took the same shot that Rumble hit DC with. And mind you, he has the same height and reach as Max Holloway; it's insane what the guy can do.

My opinion has been that the top 3 at LHW could move up and beat everyone at HW. If you look at the success DC has already had and Rumble's fight with Arlovski, I can see Jones, DC and Rumble all beating the top 5 current HWs.

If Jones is better... PERIOD.

How could Cormier ever be the HW champ ?

I do believe that Jones has two more fights at LHW... Possibly 3. Then, I see him going up.

Cormier will be at LHW for at least one more fight, and maybe one, or two more. ???

So, assuming DC loses to Jones. I don't see how he could possibly just move up, and challenge for the belt immediately. In between the time he allegedly loses to Jones, and the time Jones jumps up. Because you know Jones gets an immediate shot if he goes up ( Assuming he wins at LHW, ... ... ... ).

The math says... It ain't happenin, bro.

I'd drop Werdum from that statement. I think dc can beat the brakes off of Werdum. I think the new gameplan Reem can beat him too. If Gus drops him with a knee than Reem would take his head off with one.

At least we both can agree Jones beats him again.
 
I considered him the #2 HW in the world before he went down to 205.

I think he matches up well against Werdum but I think an in-shape Cain beats him with superior size and cardio.

Thanks, man. I enjoy your contributions as well. Wouldn't say for certain he would be, but he matches up better with the fighters at HW then he does with Jones. His wrestling is likely the best of them with the exception of possibly Cain. And his speed would be a mismatch for most of them. He was able to make a mess of some pretty good HWs like Barnett and Bigfoot in Strikeforce.

Jones exploits DC by never letting him get in his groove, something he's been good at doing with most fighters. When DC can get into his rhythm, he's like a Tasmanian Devil on the feet and of course putting people on the canvas. He possesses some pretty damn good power in his hands, too. I'd just give him a shot because he's very talented and has shown to be pretty good at imposing his will in most of his fights. Jones is just a horrible matchup for him. And pretty much anyone else that enters the cage with him. If Jones moves up, that pretty much negates that.
 
Considering how big the top light heavyweights are at this point (Jones, DC, Gustafsson, Rumble) I think most top light heavyweights can go up in weight and still do as well as they do in their respective divisions.

4-5 years ago there was a huge difference between top light heavyweights and regular-sized heavyweights (i.e Wanderlei, Rampage, and Rashad were significantly smaller than Cro-Cop, Cain, and Fedor) but it's hard to tell the difference at this point.

LOL... See, that's what I was talking about. I wasn't sure if it was right now, or an actual possible future.

Yeah, I know... I was thinking outside the box. But if you only think inside the box. There might be something you are missing. I just kinda played out the scenarios in my head.
