I think back in the days when he tore through the FW division and won the 2nd belt, people were hyping him up to be one of the best fighters ever and he had worshippers everywhere who praised how great he was. Nate destroyed some of the hype, Khabib almost put an end to it, then the back to back losses to Poirier kind of shifted peoples perspectives on his fighting ability.

But after multiple losses and not fighting for a while, it seems a large portion of Sherdog treat him like he is a trash fighter. I even saw a thread where someone said Conor should fight Paddy as that is the only winnable fight for him. And someone else said he shouldn't even be ranked in the top 100.
Also he was quite a lot of people who dislike him mainly for his out of cage antics, so there might be some bias.

What do you think? Is Conor more overrated or underrated these days?

Dude will forever be overrated but he had lightning in a bottle on a few occasions. His LW title win was one of the best performances in a titleshot in recent memory, and thats obviously looking past him starching Aldo which has still aged incredibly well despite how much I hated that occurring lol

Yeah he had some of the highest highs and lowest lows. If you look at what he did at FW and what he did to Alvarez, you could say he is very elite. But on the other hand, losing to 11 day notice Nate Diaz was kind of bad. I don't think the Khabib loss should damage his stock as a fighter too much, everyone loses to him. Poirier is also elite too. Winning against an aging Cowboy was his last win, which was done in impressive fashion, but was not really an impressive win

On Sherdog? Underrated
General population aka "casuals"? Overrated
I'd say on most social media sites, MMA fans tend to underrate him too, at least since his Khabib loss. Funny how Conor went from being hyped as a GOAT (yes people said that on social media after the Eddie win), to a complete trash fighter after a few losses to elite competition.

Vastly overrated

This.

Conor has been 'figured out.'

Everybody knows he has no gastank past the 2nd round.
Everybody knows his TDD and defensive grappling are weak.
He still fights the exact same way he did in 2015-16.
He's 35, and with 2+ years of inactivity, he's probably past his prime.

Don't get me wrong - He's not a joke.
If he chooses to blitz his opponent in the first 2 minutes of a fight, he's not significantly less scarier than Ngannou.

Overrated because his success depends on size of the opponent. He beats smaller fighters, loses to equal and bigger fighters. He's at the top of whatever the opposite of P4P is.

Yeah, he looked like a skeleton at some of his FW weigh ins. Soon as he moved up, 11 day notice Diaz choked him out. Eddie was a good win, but Conor looked bigger and taller on fight day, Khabib smoked him, Poirier smoked him at LW

Extremely overrated.

This guy talks about fighting at 170 or even 185? Come the fuck on, he cried about how big Nate was. He wouldn't last a round against any legit UFC level 170 or up fighter. His fights at 170 have all been against 155ers anyway.

No respect for him after he ran away from the Aldo rematch. He then has had one good win against Alvarez SEVEN fucking years ago.

Since then he's gotten his ass thoroughly kicked and stopped early in 3 of his last 4 fights.

And now what... we're supposed to believe he's somehow near title contention with his one single win in the last SEVEN years?
