Do you think Cejudo will return and can he beat Yan?

It's hard to say where exactly Cejudo is at.

He narrowly beat DJ who was at the tail end of his prime and some argue Cejudo loss, he beat TJ who at 125 was one of the most physically weak fighters we've ever seen in the cage, he got a unquestionably great win over Moraes who since then has been thoroughly exposed though, and then against an old Cruz who probably won't reach top 5 again.

The whole championship era of his career is covered in question marks, I'd love to see him fight Yan.

It is funny cause these aren't bad arguments but it's a classic case of downplaying someone's resume which is ridiculously frequent on Sherdog.

First off, the argument about beating a out of prime DJ isn't great because that just isn't true, watch any of DJs fights before that and he looks every bit as fast and technical as the 2nd Cejudo fight. The knock against the Dillashaw win is just horrible, finishing TJ that quick is incredible not matter the circumstances, EPO included. I can see the arguments for the other 2 wins but still great wins regardless.

You can also shit on Yans resume just as easy though. He beat a fighter that never has been able to step up in big fights in Rivera. He KO a washed up 40 year old skateboarder in Faber and beat the fossil of Aldo. His only good win never even happened because he had a brain dead low IQ moment and illegally kneed Aljo although he was well on his way to victory.

I'm not hating on either fighters but you can pick apart anyone's resume if you dig into it.

Cejudo is legit. He proved it by winning 2 belts. He proved he can overcome and adapt after a loss.

Yes, Henry would beat Yan. I would guess that if he can't get it done on the feet, he wrestles and GnP's his way to a decision.

Can we calm down on the Yan stuff until he strings together a couple top 10 wins?

Henry don’t want that smoke.

Cejudo could pressure the shit out of Yan like Aljo did but not gas. Yan is a very very slick offensive striker but defensively he relies on his high guard way too much, & he doesn't check kicks.

Taking a few years off and coming back at age 35 to face an absolute killer in his prime like Petr Yan would be an extremely difficult challenge. But it's also not smart to doubt Cejudo, the man has proven time and time again that he is a winner who always defies the odds. Either way, I'd love to see the fight and I hope it happens.

cejudo is good, and he is not to be counted out. but people here tend to confuse this with worldbeater. the reality is he got beaten by dj and benavidez, got gifted a decision over dj in the rematch, got lit up in the first round by moraes, and beat an over the hill injured cruz.

That is a good breakdown of your thoughts on the fight in a short manageable amount of words lol. I agree with some points like Cejudos main path to victory being heavy pressure with high volume. Still, even in the Aljo fight Yan had an answer for that by flooring Aljo in the first round with that lethal counter that could of put many fighters away. Yan does turtle up in that high guard and Cejudo has great kicks which he really showed in the Cruz fight, Yan also absorbed some heavy lowvkicks from Aldo early but he adjusted. Kicks are certainly the key for Cejudo if he wants to get the better of striking because he's not out boxing Yan.

Cejudo probably would've won if they fought while he still had the title, but you can't just hop out and come back just as good against avtive fighters.

UFC still has the winner of Sandhagen/TJ ThrillainmanillaEPOshaw to face Yan after he desecrates Aljo's corpse.

And who knows what then after that. They dont need Triple Cringe. Triple Cringe has taken himself outta the game to follow hopeless never-gonna-happen fights with Canelo or Manny

I love both them match ups too. Sandhagen vs Yan or Dillashaw vs Yan on paper look like a striking match between some of the highest level guys in that category in all of MMA.

That being said, after seeing Yan made Aljo his 5 year old son by throwing him around at will with his grappling, a fight with Sandhagen and Yan seems less compelling considering Aljo has schooled Corey with his grappling. If Yan decided to stand an trade it would be fireworks and very competitive, evenly matched fight though imo.

For the Dillashaw fight its a bit harder to get hyped for until we see how he performs in his upcoming fight. If he dominates Sandhagen and looks like his same old self ill be ecstatic for a fight with Yan. Prime TJ is one of the best MMA strikers I've ever seen and he's no slouch in other areas too.

Anyways, this fight isn't trying to take away from those great match ups. It's honestly just more a fantasy fight between the 2 best current 135s right now and I'd like to see it lol.

Cant disagree!

Just because Yan stuffed Aljo’s TDs doesn’t mean he will Trip C. There are levels, remember that.

Yan Vs Aljo, Yan vs Sandhagen, Yan vs Henry all awesome fights

Aljo's a BJJ guy, it's different. Cejudo will have the wrestling over Yan. If things go south on the feet it's likely he can take Yan down without getting subbed. Yan is like the most patient champ ever. That can work against him on points. Cejudo is a active fighter and can go 5 rounds.

I do believe Cejudo will come back at some point and at 135. You seldom see top guys cutting more weight when they come back from retirement. Usually the opposite. It's easier to not cut the weight. He went out on top and is too young in the sport to never fight again. His antics also say comeback.

Funny enough if Henry comes back he might get the next shot over Yan.

Very interesting fight.

There's a handful of 'super fights' I want to see at 135.

Namely Between Yan, TJ and Cejudo.

I like all those guys but I'm rooting for TJ.

Yan via knee KO round 5 (after dominating first 4 rounds)
Cejudo retired because he knows he has nothing for actual top fighters at 135 and too fat to make 125
