Too early... BUT. My feeling is that he will come back even more dedicated than ever and unify HW again in honor of his fallen mates.
He could also just ride off into the sunset, but given his history, I don't think that's likely.

I don't think he'll have a problem fighting clowns like Jake Paul for millions. But I don't expect him to reach the pinnacle of the heavyweight division again.

If he did, it'd be an incredible story though.

hard to say, this era is so out of whack, it's tough to compare. 36-37 is an age where most of the great were either retired or past ready to retire. And I don't know if todays boxers have a pathological need to fight like the guys of the past. Just look at Fury.

But I'd say, yes, he'll probably fight again, might even win a title with what's out there. A fight with Fury, again, tough to say with these guys today. Both of those guys are inconsistent and unreliable to pick as winners so, it could go either way. Based on form, AJ should be able to beat him.

HW has become the old man division, so AJ could fight for several years to come without really being over the hill compared to his peers.

As far as the tragedy goes, that won't stop him.

As long as he's not injured of course

What about the style argument. Out-fighter vs boxer puncher, who generally wins? Doesnt the boxer puncher have the edge? He has time to set up his shots, unlike with the brawler who smothers him, and he doesn't run the risk of getting flash Koed either.

Boxers usually beat the other styles with their brains but I don't know if there's enough brainwork going on these days. Both of these guys seem kinda weak upstairs. I wouldn't feel confident picking either one.

I don't think the fight will happen soon after the crash though, I'd be surprised if AJ can just fight like nothing happened in two months.

Ken Norton was a boxer puncher right?

I don't think Fury is.
Ken was an oddity, the rarest of fighters, really unorthodox, great athlete, had his own idiosyncratic rhythm that gave nightmares to technical boxers like ali and holmes (some people think he won every fight with those guys) but got spooked with big punchers and freaked out if he felt some power. I wouldn't call him a slick boxer or a pure puncher although he could be a vicious puncher.

Fury is unstable, drug problems, huge weight gains, I wouldn't mind if he stayed retired myself. AJ has a history of falling apart in big fights even ones that he's winning.

What I dont get about the pundits is that the guy with superior technical strokes is considered the puncher (Joshua), and the guy who only has footwork and counter punching is considered the boxer (Fury).

Ken Norton had no chin. his coaches made him have that crab guard because of it. but it didnt help.

Kenny actually had a decent enough chin, but he froze like a deer in headlights against big punchers. Holmes was an ok puncher, Ali was an underrated puncher and he tried to walk all over them. The guys who made him skittish and made him backup could always take him. I could see why his old trainer, Eddie Futch, thought his young protege, Duane Bobick would beat Ken because of his history.

In terms of power punchers vs. boxers, power is only one tool, there are so many more ways to win a fight, defense and strategy. Anyway, history proves that boxers/swarmers/punchers all have styles that intersect very nicely with each other and there are swarmers generally cause more problems for boxers than kayo punchers and kayo punchers generally cause more problems for swarmers than boxers but overall, the edge would go to boxers. No one is purely one thing either though.

Paul isn't measurement tool cos he is small for HW division and never had beated any CW boxer from top 10 - 15.
Okolie might had octopus Paul till crying and someone like Dorticos send in ICU or morgue.

Eddie badly wants A.J to continue fight. Also he told that Buatsi and Okolie still are prospects .....

Uncle claims AJ's retired from boxing.
who's uncle? Fighters retire and unretire all the time. Not that I care if he retires or not but the claim itself is nothing.

That's why I stated the source, uncle, not AJ himself, and used the word "claim". Yes I agree fighters call it a career way to often and change their mind shortly after.
From what I read AJ's Nigerian uncle made the claim in an interview. Said something along the line it was best for the family and AJ is financially secure and has been for a while.

If he retires, for any reason, I think it's understandable at this point

oh, ok, i thought Uncle was some sort of term used for his promoter or something, as fighters used to call Mike Jacobs "uncle" mike. Thought it may have been eddie hearn or one of those guys.

He's old enough to quit but most fighters do not quit. Even the rarest of the rare, Lennox Lewis, sounded like he would have been willing to fight Jake Paul. Fighters that retire only once are unusual at that level.
