Law Do you support Zohan Mamdani's call for ban of AR15s?

Yeah criminals will commit crime. They are already performing acts that are illegal.
Yeah I got that. I was just replying to your sentiment that people don’t know where to get illegal shit, or that it’s difficult. It’s not that difficult, it happens all the time.

What paperwork is required for a private sell.
Depends where you are. It's lax in Louisiana. You need the standard paperwork for a transfer of ownership and a notarized bill of sale. No background checks or anything. As long as both parties are legally able own a firearm you can just freeball it.

Nah bro, its a total load of shit. How could anyone possibly know?????

On a private sale you are not required any paperwork in Louisiana and most southern states.

However if you knowing sell to someone that can not own a gun its a crime.

Wow, had to look it up and you're right. Turns out I've just been doing extra for my whole adult life. I cant imagine having no paper trail on my guns.

That law needs to change. You have to have some kind of regulation on private sale. No paperwork is wild.

I disagree but a bill of sale os still goof to have. What needs to change is holding people responsible for their actions when they knowingly commit a crime. Like I said if you straw purchase you should get 10 to 15 years no parole same if you knowingly sell to someone you lnow cannot have a gun. If you cannot have a gun and buy or get or just have it you should get 15 to 25 to life depending on the circumstances.

We need more criminal control but the left doesn't want to talk about that. They want to punish legal gun owners.

That's nice in principle but borderline unenforceable to any meaningful margin. Thats the real issue.

You can throw the book at the rare few you catch but you'll never keep pace with the amount of illegal guns casually being traded around. And that's not to say we shouldn't hit the ones that get caught hard. Far from it, make the penalties steep. But ultimately it just puts a band-aid on a bullet hole.

Having no regulation on private sales only makes it easier to get away with selling guns to people who shouldn't have them. And even beyond the issue of illegal guns and gun sales, something needs to be done about the staggering lack of education the average gun owner has regarding responsible firearm handling.

The cops catch felonies with guns all the time but they are back out on the street by the time they finish the paperwork.

As the cop and ex cops here. Then they get little time for the gun of any. The same with straw purchasers.

You dont punsh the law abiding for the criminals actions by removing the law abiding citizens rights.

Anyone deep in the 2A community knows that many gun nuts who are not "felons" or "gang members" brag about having federally illegal weapons or obtaining accessories & modifications that make their weapons illegal becuase & i quote "Fuck the ATF."

Was kind of a bit shocking with how prevalent it was.

Funny how so many posters here think they could walk into a big city and go buy a gun out of the trunk of some dudes car.

Am I the only one that finds this laughable?

Like I said, when you catch them, hit em hard. I just dont think it'll make a big enough dent. Its still a change worth implementing.

Being mandated to be responsible with fire arms isn't a punishment. It should be a standard already. If you cannot safely handle/store your weapons then you should own them. No discussing. Being a gun owner comes with responsibility and many of the problems that we have stem from being too lax about how we handle treat guns. If you're going to own something that can kill someone then you need a license and training. For your safety and others.

Describe, if you would please, the specifics on a few of those points above. Specifically:

1. Storage of weapons.
2. Licensing requirements.
3. Training requirements.

NOPE. In the middle of an AR build now....& its pretty epic

Also, here in Arizona in all the car social media groups EVERYDAY there are Ring or home surveillance videos of people armed with ARs or AKs stealing performance cars or sports cars right out of people's driveways in suburban areas....Movie type shit. Like 3 dudes pull up. Block your driveway. One guy is the get away driver who sits in the running car. One guy literally stands lookout with their rifle focused at your home . Other guy breaks into and steals the car. Lookout hops back into the getaway car. Both cars take off.

If somebody comes to my front door with semi auto or automatic high capacity weapons fuck anybody who tries to tell me to use my revolver, my pistols, my shotgun, a butter knife, my hands, or to call the police to protect my family or my property. Especially when its a daily occurrence in many areas throughout the country.

Its fkn 2025 in the height of gun culture. The cat's out the bag, you cant put it back in. Domestic & foriegn criminals will continue to have easy access to a plethora of weapons & no laws will ever stop them in our country. So as a trained, responsible, law abiding citizen I want the right to match or have superior fire power.

I use to rely on personal protection trained dogs or guard dogs before I got into 2A stuff. Now im not about to hope or send my dogs after terrorist gang members with assualt rifles to get shot up.

Its also not even about some strange larp or fantasy about getting into a shootout with "bad guys." Its about me knowing I at least had a fighting chance to protect my family, my neighbors, or myself if things escalated or if they crashed out.
Great point.
But if they enter your house, you have the element of surprise. I think .12 gauge with buckshot and 6 rounds in the chamber will do it. Handgun next to you, .45

AR and AK is more for an upper bedroom window in the country type of scenario, pick em off from a distance.
