I don't care what NYC does with guns. If they want to get guns out of the city, so be it. Probably need to focus on hand guns not AR15s however if you're worried about city wide gun violence.
Given that America is sliding into fascism nationally, probably a good idea hold onto the guns, imo.

It's also incredibly stupid given that unless there's a federal change local or state changes are just ways to posture and take away rights from your constituents.
I have always been in favor of sensible gun reforms but Democrats as a rule propose the dumbest laws.
Would a law mandating use of safes be a good idea? I think so. Mandatory gun training? Sure. Red flag laws? Depending on the verbiage I can definitely get behind it.
Does a law mandating maximum number of rounds in a magazine make sense? No. Anyone who's ever trained with a gun can do a magazine change in a second. It's idiotic.
Likewise AR15 or scary feature bans are idiotic.
Does a gun roster make sense? No. Banning more modern safer guns unless they pay you some bribe is moronic.
How will this law stop a nutjob from another state driving to NYC to shoot up a building?
For all the focus on rifles, they are responsible for something like 1% of gun violence. Again, wrong priorities.

Also, here in Arizona in all the car social media groups EVERYDAY there are Ring or home surveillance videos of people armed with ARs or AKs stealing performance cars or sports cars right out of people's driveways in suburban areas....Movie type shit. Like 3 dudes pull up. Block your driveway. One guy is the get away driver who sits in the running car. One guy literally stands lookout with their rifle focused at your home . Other guy breaks into and steals the car. Lookout hops back into the getaway car. Both cars take off.
If somebody comes to my front door with semi auto or automatic high capacity weapons fuck anybody who tries to tell me to use my revolver, my pistols, my shotgun, a butter knife, my hands, or to call the police to protect my family or my property. Especially when its a daily occurrence in many areas throughout the country.
Its fkn 2025 in the height of gun culture. The cat's out the bag, you cant put it back in. Domestic & foriegn criminals will continue to have easy access to a plethora of weapons & no laws will ever stop them in our country. So as a trained, responsible, law abiding citizen I want the right to match or have superior fire power.
I use to rely on personal protection trained dogs or guard dogs before I got into 2A stuff. Now im not about to hope or send my dogs after terrorist gang members with assualt rifles to get shot up.
Its also not even about some strange larp or fantasy about getting into a shootout with "bad guys." Its about me knowing I at least had a fighting chance to protect my family, my neighbors, or myself if things escalated or if they crashed out.
