It's been a while since his last fight and he's been out because of injury.

Do you still believe in his skills and fighting spirit that he can become champion?

Well, last time he fought was about the same time as Jon Jones, so I guess Shavkat should be ridiculed for not fighting.

At least he's not holding up a division, cuz he's got no leverage.

He's injured and had surgery. Not the same as filming Russian reality shows in Thailand and caressing men while riding on the back of their scooters.

i never thought he was destined for the belt anyway. sure, he can become a champ, but i never thought it was a lock like many people thought. he hasn't really fought anyone elite besides Ian Garry, and while he did win, it wasn't the complete mollywhopping people thought it would be.

He's been out for so long I wonder how bad his recovery has been and if he's going to be able to return to his former self when he gets back in there.

I feel like the top of the mountain at 170 is wide open. I don't really see anyone holding down the fort for a long time and a lot of guys at the top can beat each other on any given night

lol what a weird tangent, jon shirking his responsibility to defend (and double that against a legit challenger) is exactly why he was ridiculed, obv a fighter with no title can fight as seldom as he likes

Shavkat is definitely entitled to fight as seldom as he likes. And who knows, maybe he can even become champ one day and get to fight even less?

Maybe he'll even get to the point that people start calling him a duck? Who knows?

at the rate he's been fighting? no. I used to but it feels like it's been long time since he fought.

Just a matter of time before that fake 0 on his record goes away. Ian showed us he's not nearly the world beater he was touted as by the majority.

I still think past prime Usman would beat him today

His injury looks so bad, he doesn't even look like he's the same person anymore physically. I think whatever it was if it was something fixed that he can return back to form, he can be champ. But if it's a career ender, then well, he got pretty close to the title.

I love him but I'm now thinking no. He looked very human against Garry. I think Brady might beat him to be honest.

This true but he did get surgery right after this. So that could have hindered his performance. Hard to say how good he is now until we see how he returns after this lay off and surgery.

Yeah he just has a new timeline. He will get back in shape and needs a tune up fight then will take the title.

He's still super young by today's MMA standard. Hopefully the injury doesn't derail his potential but I have no doubt he can still make a run to the top.
