Do you respect more Anderson Silva's 10 title defences now ?

Ok i know i'm a fan so i'm attracting attention on him now while Bisping is MW champ. First, congrats to Bisping, it is so nice to finally see 10 years of services in the UFC being rewarded.

Since he upset Rockhold, we know realize that "every fight is different" is not a meaningless sentence. One mistake and you can say bye bye to the belt.

I now wonder if we'll get to see someone keeping it for 10 consecutive fights as old Andy did. People forget the fact that it's hard to be focused and avoid every threat, even if the opposition is not always the strongest.

A fight is a fight. Hespect new champion. Hespect Anderson's legacy as well

The toughest guy in the division isn't always the toughest opposition for the champ.

I guess. I dont know if I respect it more then I have, but to be honest it is something to respect. Crazy record, Anderson was incredible through his run. Maybe he should of stayed out of the game, but it isn't so bad atleast when people bring up his loss to Bisping he will say "Well shit he was a champion!"

I don't think anyone here lacked respect for it to begin with?

Carry on.

Demetrious Johnson has a fight set up on July 30, 2016. That will be his tenth consecutive defense, and I find it plausible that he's going break Anderson's record this year.

EDIT: I made a mistake looking at his record. Next one will be only his NINTH defense, so maybe not this year, but he can do it in 2017. Thanks for correction guys.

No, I always had big respect for it. When every fight is against the 2nd baddest 185 pound man in the world that wants what you have, I don't see anything that could make me respect that more.

I'm just laughing at everyone saying Anderson lost because the MW division got tougher as opposed to him getting older.

Forget the doping crap, since for years everyone was doing whatever they wanted and only recently been getting caught/off the crap.

Anderson was special and deserves tons of respect because of how long he was atop the mountain. Sure Chris knocked him out, but then what? Leg break, then Machida, Vitor then a loss to Luke, then Luke loses to Mike. Put Mike in there with Jacare and he loses. Becomes like the LHW division before Jones, revolving door.

Silva even in his current condition, refused to get finished after getting dropped by Bisping. Cockyhold never got back up.

Hespect.

Anderson Silva remains the GOAT. And I thought he won rounds three, four and five against Bisping, too.

It certainly highlights how impressive Anderson and Fedor and their long win streaks were. MMA is such a tough sport that it's extremely difficult to fight high level competition and remain unbeaten over any lengthy period of time. Even if you're better than the opposition, chances are high that, at some point, you'll get hit with a big shot or run into a bad style match up. Streaks like those put on by Anderson and Fedor are quite impressive.
