I'm not trying to bash anyone but lately I haven't really cared for their commentary.

It seems that Joe basically rants on about stuff, some of its pretty legit but other stuff is a little over the top. Not to mention he basically has a man-crush on every person with high-level BJJ. He clearly shows some bias once in awhile and repeats himself often.

And Mike is just there is point out random facts like "this fighter trained at Alliance for 8 months". (who cares?)

I always thought the best duo would be to get an MMA fighter with a specialty in striking, and another with grappling. That way no matter where the fight went we'd have a analyst who could give us a detailed account of what was going on.

An example could be;

Bas_Rutten-1.jpg

Bas Rutten

The charismatic and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Bas Rutten.

Rutten's credentials:
- 5th degree black-belt in Kyokushin Karate
- 2nd degree black-belt in Taekwondo
- A 14-2 professional Muay Thai kickboxing record. (All wins by knockout)

Rogan is the one who mainly comments on the striking due to his TKD background but I can't help but feel someone like Rutten would have much more to say and be more interesting.

Kenny Florian

Kenny Florian already does some UFC commentary on occasion but I'd really like to see him do it more often.

He's a former UFC Lightweight & Featherweight title-challenger and he has a 2nd degree black-belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and scored 8 submission wins inside the octagon.

(Although a wrestler/bjj guy would be best that way we could get some info on wrestling too but the only guy who came to mind was Josh Barnett and he's still actively fighting)

Rogan/Goldberg are a great team, Florian is solid too so I wouldn't mind if he subbed in every now and then. but for bas....I love the guy but his commentary has gone downhill

Wow! What a brand new/novel idea for a thread! TS you are so innovative!

If you don't like them, turn the volume off.

The everything after the "But" clearly bashes them...

Bas and Kenflo? You have to be kidding us... Damn troll.

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/bashing

"To criticize (another) harshly, accusatorially, and threateningly."

Was I being critical? yes.

But I was not "bashing" them, just saying they have their faults and that I think more experienced people in the field would be better suited.

i had a period where i HATED goldberg. I can deal with him better these days. Buffer on the other hand.. i'm so done with his screaming. Would love for them to get something more refined and classy.

No... Goldberg is an idiot and the sport passed Rogan by. he says stuff and criticizes people about things he doesn't even know. They both also play favorites. They are annoying and 10000000% need to replaced.

I've defended these guys a lot over the years, but something does seem off lately. Rutten is not the answer though.

25 years from now, Chael Sonnen will be known as the best MMA color guy ever.

Not gonna lie, I'd really want Chael doing it.

It seems like you either love him or hate him.

Agreed, but I think we're in the minority.

I think the reason rogan got the job because he was available at a time when there was nobody better. In my opinion Kenny and baz both do better jobs.

Joe & Goldie are fine. Anyone would repeat themselves if they called 1000 fights. I always liked the idea of adding a 3rd commentator now and then. They used to do that with Randy sometimes. Mauro & Bas would loop in Page.

In that role, everybody would start to love him. Sure, some haters would hold out and never forgive him for troll statements he's made in the past, but when he turns it on, he can charm the shit out of anyone and make a lot of sense in what he says. Essentially, he's an excellent talker and a student of the game...putting him cageside would be gold.

im ok with their commentary. but sometimes rogan is a little just bias..

bas is terrible but kenny is good - i like joe and goldie, they get me excited and they seem like genuine fans

I'm neutral on Goldberg. I like Rogan. I love Bas, but he isn't a great commentator imo. I could handle Sonnen if he was able to not make it all about himself.
