Not much to recommend, cats are easy asf, they mostly just need you to ensure they're fed and have water, beyond that they'll mostly chill and keep to themselves, at least relative to dogs, who want to spend every second of existence within two feet of you.
I suppose these are things I can recommend: if you live in a house that isn't a rental, put in a pet door so they can come and go as they please. Otherwise, it's gonna spray your stuff, and it smells like ammonia. If your funds are good, maybe even have that gland that produces that shit removed altogether. If you ever bring in another pet, it's gonna spray. If you upset it in some way, it's gonna spray. Since you can't communicate, you may be pissing it off and have no clue why, and that is their default reaction to being mad, it's gonna spray.
Also, get it something it can claw on, if you don't plan to remove its claws (please don't remove its claws, that's terrible). Get a spray bottle and hit it anytime it claws your furniture, take it to its scratching post or whatever you get it, show it it is OK to scratch on by scratching it yourself. They're smart and observant creatures, they will follow your lead.
Aside from that, cats are awesome. They're as loyal as dogs, can sense things about you that you may not sense yourself. I'd have one if I wouldn't have to pay its deposit AND monthly rent.
