Do you know any self made millionaires?

If $1,000,000 isn't much these days, what's the net worth of the average pot smoking video game playing loser jerk off? Not counting x-mas money from mom & dad and grandparents.

One guy. He had a shit job, saw a niche that wasn't being fulfilled and turned it into multiple government contracts with the backing of his boss from the original shit job.

It's kinda weird hanging out with someone with a black card when you're a normal guy.

Yes, quite a few. Some family members and some friends.

They made their money from big pharma industry to venture capital business as well as real estate.

a house near me costs over a million

anyone in my neighborhood who has mostly paid off their house is automatically a millionaire

baby boomers have been inflating the fuck out of real estate prices to make it a giant ponzi scheme since they were young. made it very easy for them to accumulate wealth but hard for millennials

Most of that was low interest rates compared to when they bought combined with running up a huge government debts.

Fine, but still there are lots of people with just a million.

Maybe i am reading a hostility that is not there but did i suggest otherwise?

Not really, but those MLM people I've met always brag about knowing millionaires and all live with their parents lmao

Doctors will be millionaires multiple times over as long as they are not retarded.

My dad and my aunt (his sister). My dad was a mid-level executive for a Fortune 500 company when they decided that they no longer wanted to work in the particular field that my dad's division was focused on. They gave him a 6-figure severance package which he used to start his own business and he ended up making more money than he did in the corporate world. Unfortunately, this happened when I was already an adult, so I didn't really grow up as a rich kid. Don't get me wrong, I was comfortable, but it would have been nicer for sure. The home my dad lives in now is definitely nicer than the one we lived in growing up.

As for my aunt, she's an environmental lawyer working for a pretty big firm, she has a fairly large salary and she owns rental properties, so she's a millionaire. But being a millionaire isn't really a big deal in the Western World these days. There are literally millions of millionaires in the US. I'm like halfway there myself because I'm a property owner and I have a 6-figure Fidelity account, but I certainly don't feel rich. I'm comfortable, but not rich.

My boss might be. If not he's close. I think he probably had some help from co-signers on big loans.

He owns close to 100 rental properties. Lots of them still aren't paid off though. He probably makes about $350,000 a year, but he has a lot of expenses. He's a master of the tax deductions so that helps.
The value of the properties would be counted as part of his net worth, even if his cash-flow is nowhere near that. He's definitely a millionaire, at least on paper (even if they're not all paid off, 100 properties would add up to a lot regardless).

My parents both have that sort of $$$ houses paid off, cars paid off a few million in the bank. Retired, mid 60s.

They worked their asses off and we're in the right places at the right times. My mom came from a well to do family but my dad didn't.

One of my dads brothers made millions in the restsraunt business.

I know 4. My cousin David has a degree in education. He wanted to be a music teacher. He couldn't find a full time teaching job. He's very smart and tech savvy. He and 5 friends started an IT business doing consulting and setting up networks. They eventually got bought out by a bigger company for 1 million a piece and hired on at six figures. He married a brain surgeon and they have a huge house on the Susquehanna river in PA. He's became a millionaire by age 43.

My High School buddy's dad started a dish satellite / telecom company. He sold that for 30 million. He used to water down ketchup to get the last drops out of the bottle. Frugal as hell, but he still bought his a son a Mustang GT. He became a millionaire in his 40's.

A friend of the family has a son who made 6 million in real estate. He moved from PA and got his license in Miami. He has a degree in sports medicine. He's became a millionaire by age 34.

Lastly, the owner of my company has God knows how many millions. He's a former Navy Master Chief who started his company with his ex-wife. He donates a lot of time and money to charity. He became a millionaire in his 50's.

True. Then he's definitely a mlllionare. He owns about a 60 apartment complex that is completely paid off. I know it's worth over 1 million.

He told me at one point he was 3 million in debt. It's as risky business. You're always chasing your money because people don't pay. Sometimes you struggle to keep all the places rented. Most renters come in & just completely trash the places in a few months & then get kicked out. Also there are always tenants looking to sue once they get behind on rent

Yeah, a lot -- new millionaires is one of the fastest growing demographics with 1700 new ones everyday in the us and that projected number is rising rapidly (granted a sizeable chunk of that is inheritances) -- still, this time period is pretty golden for wealth generation, especially for younger people as speculation and investment in concepts and tech is rising.

Yeah, I understand. There are times when my dad is very low on cash flow even though he's well off in general. He has to chase money from people who owe him all the time. Basically threaten them to give him the $13k or whatever they owe him. :)

Yep & sometimes the tenants will even get restraining orders. My boss is always in & out of court.

On the flip side though he almost never has to work. I do all the maintience & it's just a tax write off for him. His granddaughter does the book keeeing which is also a tax write off. He even has his own house owned by his business so that he can write off all the work done to it.
