Do you have young kids? What are you doing to ready them for a world turned upsidedown?

I don't have kids. I currently don't want kids, and one of the main reasons for that is my belief, that the coming machine revolution, which is happening now, will turn the whole world upside down.

The last world changing event on this scale was the industrial revolution. These changes were slow moving in a world without flight, electronic communication, and no global infastructure, but they eventually lead to everything that shapes our world today. In political/economic philosophy from capitalism to communism, it was the catalyst for the entropy that lead to WWI, and hence WWII.

Every bit of horror, and progress of the last 200 years was shaped by the industrial revolution.

We are living right now, in the first waves of the machine revolution. This revolution will move rapidly. It will spawn new political and economic ideology. Power will shift. Those that adapt will thrive, those that dont will pay the price. This will likely lead to war.

Here is my question. If you have young children, what skills are you teaching them to be ready for a brave new world?

Computer coding?

Survival skills?

Is this something the average parent knows, or thinks about?

Discuss.......

Edit: Note to mods, If you are going to dump this, please move to Mayberry instead.

And how to start a fire with nothing but things you can find in the bush.

Adaptability. That encompasses a ton of stuff but at the end of the day being able to play the game successfully no matter how the parameters change is the most important skill I’m trying to pass on.

Instilling hard work ethic, good grades and respecting the value of a dollar. It's worked for many a generation. Should in the future also

Working on his bench press, obviously.

I’m going for squats and large vertical leaps. I’m thinking whoever can snatch drones from the sky is going to have the most success.

My daugher seems to have inherited my ass, my grandfather white skin, my wife´s big dreamy eyes, my dad´s bipolar disorder.

She is going to make one man really miserable, but otherwise i think pretty women can land well as long as they have half a working brain.

EDIT

My daughter is a baby, so dont ask for pics or even think about it

I would say alot of dead soldiers, dead revolutionaries, starved people from famine, and war, ect. would say those qualities did very little to help them.

Being in the military I will likely be in the middle of "it" if shit goes down. He and his mother will have everything they need to survive for quite a while. But likely I will not make it back in some kind of end of days world war. I already know that the #1 parenting skill I can teach him is self-reliance and resilience. Anything after that is just a bonus. However, my additional responsibilities:

My son will know how to fight. With fists. With a knife or stick. And with guns.

At 1yr old he can already use a tablet and a phone to find his disney videos. He will grow up in a digital age. If I could pick his profession I would have him be an electrician then move into renewable energy.

He will know how to fix simple machinery, and his first car will have a carburator and a distributor. I will probably buy it broken and make him fix it.

He will know how to hunt and fish. I have friends that do those 10 day survival courses and outward bound programs for troubled kids. When he is old enough he goes.

Also financial responsibility. Save and invest. The same way my grandfather taught me.

Jesus man. First, never talk about your daughters ass. Second, pics or werk.

Stop climbing down the stairs without me, you've tumbled like 6 times already, you're 19 months old for chrissakes. And learn to like some music besides the fucking Frozen soundtrack.

Also, always be humble and kind.

She is a baby dude, dont sexualize it.

My point is that women have it easier due to nature, as long as they are pretty and hot. So ill make sure my daughter learns how to keep herself fit like his dad.

Because considering the amount of crazy in the family, ill need to get some sucker to marry her.
