Social Do you have a thousand dollar car payment?

The payment on my Corvette is $450 but I usually pay $600-700 a month so I can get the title sooner.

I've always been a "live below my means" kinda guy. II also tend to buy used and pay cash or pay off quickly. (My household has 4 vehicles, and the newest is a 2017 base model Ram.) A thousand bucks for a car payment would be pretty crazy for me.

Gonna finance a new hybrid Camry. Ya, I know the financial planners so don't buy new and don't finance. But I've also owned a bunch of used cars and I don't want to inherit someone else's problems. A lot of times a new Camry for example, with a good warranty and good financing, isn't even that much more than a 3 year old used one.

On topic, it'll probably be around $550 a month for a 6-7 year loan after my downpayment . I could pay cash but I don't like to be cash poor b/c life throws curveballs at ya and it's always good to have at least 6 months liquid assets just in case. I like to keep at least a year or more.

But no, I would NEVER do $1000. I would not do anything over $700 and that would have to be a pretty frickin' nice car, which I also wouldn't do. I'm not about status symbols in my vehicles.

If you buy a used car you aren't getting close to touching 4 percent. In fact, even with good credit, two years ago you're looking at 8 or 9.

Certified pre-owned financed through a dealer can be as low as like 2% right now.

That said, I was referring to buying a new car not a used one.

Hell no when I was paying off my car my payment was around $400 and that felt suffocating. This was back in... 2019. Got the car on a 5 year loan but I was working a lot of overtime so I just paid it off in 2 so I wouldn't have to pay the interest for so long. That was back when my credit was still kinda shitty.

after a decade of no car payments, I was faced with $1300/mo over 7 years lmao.... certainly dont feel good making those payments..... that's more than some folk's mortgage and that's for a depreciating liability........

Yeesh what did you get if you don't mind my asking? That's way out of my budget but for a new vehicle these days I guess I'm not shocked. That's about what I pay for rent though I'd have a stroke lol.

Ah yeah that makes sense I know those are pricey, supposed to be pretty nice though. I just got a plain old toyota but these things are so reliable I love it.

I've got two toyotas, and this is my final vehicle, qualifies as my business expense, right in time for my younger kids to start driving my older toyotas, I would have bought some sort of truck either way. After trying Silverado and F150, the cybertruck blew me away, really not even close other than being a passenger truck..... it is pricey but business is good, so I'm ok with it. Still cant get over the payments any way you cut it, it just felt so wrong, paying it off felt less wrong, and it didnt feel good either but at least it's done.

A little over $800 on a minivan. But I got a family and it is probably one of the best cars I have ever owned. Kind of pricey, but definitely money well spent.

At one point, yes, but it was for two cars (Camaro and Charger RT). I was on a four year payment plan for both, which made my payments high, but reduced my interest rate payments by half.

My house is paid for and I make a decent living, so I could easily afford it. I eventually traded in both for a Genesis G90 (my current payment is about $330)

That's more than my mortgage. If you got it like that good for you and what do you drive?

These YouTube shorts are mostly lies. None of these 20 year old salespeople are driving Audis and BMWs like they claim.
"You can live in your car, but you cant race your house."

Shit, im with ya. Last time I paid a car payment, it was $275. I recently remembered that and thought of doing it again over owning, but this thread is scaring me.

They have really gone up in prices, and yes they can be lifesavers

Gasconading about your $1000 payments on the Bentley is such a power move.
The cheapest Bentley is about 230 k including taxes and fees. Your car note would be closer to 3,833 on a 60 month loan. Then you would probably pay some ridiculous amount for insurance on top of that. I'm guessing the registration would also be some obscene amount too. It is a dumb purchase even for the wealthy.

I almost got suckered into a car note for a ford raptor I think the car note was 1500 a month but I have heard some folks pay 2 grand a month. I probably would have lost 100,000 in value on that truck a used one is probably 40 grand now. It would have been upside down on the loan.

Paid cash for the new car a year ago like my wife and I did for the other car before. No hassle. Bam. It's ours.

Mine is 2800$. New fully loaded big body Range Rover (autobiography). I had a Mercedes S63 (payment was about 2k) but sold it this past May.

Errr... I plead the 5th. To be fair though, cars are stupidly expensive in Australia.
