Take Frankie out of the picture, and this guy has destroyed everyone who isn't an elite WW. If he wasn't dicking around being energy inefficient with these giants two weight classes above his natural fight weight, who knows what would have happened

I wish he stayed in the game at lw or went down to FW sooner, but Frankie broke him. I hope it's not too late for him

A little but time isn't kind. The Bj that was training under the Marinovichs was something else and that mainly strength and conditioning. Now that he's under Jackson/Wink he he's the proper training partners and coaches to atleast give him a gameplan to the best of his abilities. I see success but I don't see him in the top 3 or being champion, unless Conor still has the belt as I can see Bj being a bad matchup for him. All that said I hope he wins a few and retires for good. He has nothing left to prove

I'm honestly not excited about it at all. I think this comeback will mostly be disappointing and sad

Apart from the obvious BJ, the only other BJ that excites me is a motivated BJ

I guess I'm fine if he's not champ again, but I would like to see what he'll do against some mid level UFC guys his own weight for a couple fights at least ... That's why I was so excited for them matching him up with someone like siver

I'm more nervous than anything. I have high hopes but holy fuck does it suck to get pumped up for BJ to fight only for him to get wrecked. I'm such a BJ Penn fan boy its like watching someone beat the fuck out of my Dad or something when I see him get his ass kicked.

Jackson's is a great choice for him to get away from all the yes men goons and actually get some good training and advice to improve so I'm excited for that.

No. I like Penn, but I think he's more than done at this point. Hope he proves me wrong.

I got excited when I saw they brought him back down off his tippy toes

i'm personally not excited at all about bj coming back. i hope he proves me wrong though. he hasn't looked "good" in 5+ years (an eternity in "fighter years"). and twinkle toes penn was just embarrassing. i got a feeling he'll get stomped by anyone he faces.

I agree--it was more of a stylistic matchup: Edgar outworked him (3 times apparently and across 2 weight divisions).

He needs a real run at 145, if he keeps toying between145-155-170 then he'll never give himself a chance--guys like Nate Diaz and Diego Sanchez fell into the same trap of which division they perform best at and then can't settle on one.

He should beat Siver, then get a bigger but winnable test (like a Kawajiri), then a top 5 after that. Siver is being handed to him on a golden platter, will be Cro Cop-Gonzaga level shocking if BJ loses to a 1-3-1NC Siver.

A long time ago.

Siver vs Penn was somewhat interesting, I agree.

I really don't want to see Penn get beat up anymore. He has nothing to prove, and he should have plenty of money.

BJ should become a commentator or stick to coaching.

And here we go...the BJ excuse making team is coming out of hibernation.

A little, but I can't help but feel somewhat skeptical. I wish him the best if this is what he really wants. BJ on point was something to behold.

BJ shouldn't fight at ww in modern mma. If you think that's some crazy excuse to eliminate losses from his record, that's your problem

What I am saying is bj is not good enough to fight the best welterweights in the world and I am excited to see him face mid tier UFC guys in a weight class he should have been at for years

BJ would fuck conor up

he would tap him in the first round.

This Cole Miller fight is a blessing in disguise. BJ needs to take these fights one at a time, build his confidence up, test the waters before fighting any top 10 fighters.
