Not talking religious per say, but think in terms of sport for example Golfers, Archers, Shooters, Racers, Boxers, if you notice most all of them have some sort of ritualistic pre or post action.

You could also call this Method, but Ritual defines it as well.

Valentino Rossi grabs his footpeg before each race:

Japanese Archers are all about the ritual:

Some of my Favorite Fellow rifle competitors are extreme ritualistic doing precisely the same actions shot after shot.

Through the years I've noticed in myself a distinct lack of ritual. I do repeat shot after shot, but its a little different free flowing procedure each time, and I'm perfectly comfortable with that.

So, under the terms stated above would you say you are more or less ritualistic in your approach to things, and is that comforting to you?

The placebo effect working its magic. Obviously grabbing your peg isn't going to help you, but it will keep you at ease from a habitual standpoint and you will be more comfortable with the task at hand.

Ever try getting out of the shower and drying yourself off with a towel, but not drying in the same pattern you're used to? It's like I forget how to use a towel if I try it differently.

Ritual == habitual == comfort

So, yes I do get comfort from ritual... maybe not strength.

You seem to get comfort from posting new threads on Sherdog and having your girl bang your friends. Do you think you're absorbing their strength or life force by sleeping with your girl after them?

Definitely not strength. I acquire that in the gym!!

Comfort? Maybe..

No, I don't get any strength or comfort from rituals. I personally find that I get strength and comfort through constant preparation. Before fights, I would spend my time stretching, drinking water, and doing some drills to warm up. To this day, I get a lot of comfort from training really hard, believing that I am totally ready for what I am about to do.

So you toss your girl to your friends just to do it then. I think there's a word for a guy that likes his woman to sleep with other men...

i get strength from doing 5 sets of 5 with heavy weight

Ritual masturbation was a thing in ancient Egypt

When I suit up to practice/play hockey I do it exactly the same way every time, it does seem ritualistic to me. If I don't have my tape, my hockey socks or mouth piece for example it totally fucks me up and throws off my game

Just make sure you keep us updated with your progress. Show us what you got man. Wanna see how freakin' huge, solid, thick and tight you can get. Thanks for the motivation.

I have in general. In the gym and daily tasks/routine, at least. I've always broken them compulsively at times, too.

The Eskimo Brothers Highlander.

Back when I played sports seriously I picked up a few quirky patterns before games. I seemed to find them comforting, but it wouldn't have been a big deal if I had been told "don't bounce the tennis ball three times before your first serve" or "don't tap your foot with the bat to knock the dirt out of your cleats before every single at bat."

this guy has my favorite deadlift ritual, which he does before every pull.
