Dana white is a president of UFC. Do you think you need a college degree to get this position?

No. Highly skilled liar, yes.

It is a high skill position.

I think you need to understand all his duties prior to making that judgement. Someone needs to list them out.

Dana is from the school of hard knocks.

Well he's been doing it long enough that nobody else would have the experience.

I think whoever takes it over will be overwhelmed and fucked

And they may start off as a nice guy ... and in a week they'll be a lying asshole

Guess it depends what you mean by high skilled.

Either way Dana is one of the best at it, its not something you typically go to school for but something you learn on the job and few people have more experience and have had more success in this area than Dana.

There's a reason why the new owners are keeping him around for another 4-5 yrs. They have business people who can handle more of the high level business stuff the ferttitas did, but to find and replace a guy like Dana. Thats near impossible.

I think that due to the high volume of fighters and events,
it takes oversight, coping skills and spin doctor qualities.

lol the guy probably is working from when he gets up at 7 or whatever right up to when he goes to sleep at night. his phone is probably blowing up non stop, he has mini crises to deal with almost daily, has to do a huge amount of pr stuff as well as all the backroom stuff. you armchair executives has ZERO clue how hard a job at that level is.

and no i'm not a nuthugger, i think he's a massive tool mostly, but not many people, certainly not the sherdog ranks, could handle a job like that. he had a huge part in turning a failing 2 million dollar business into a 4 billion behemoth and now he's laughing all the way to the bank.

respect where it's due.

Yup youre 100% right. It's a job you do based on experience and no one has the experience Dana does. Its the reason the new owners are keeping him on board for another 5 years (i believe thats how long his new contract his). Its not a position they can just fill instantly, if they want someone else to step into it then its going to take years preparing and grooming someone for it first.

Say what you will about the man but VERY few people out there have what it takes to do what he does. Anyone that says otherwise is absolutely delusional and inexperienced.

Trump and Dana should put together an Apprentice-TUF hybrid to come up with the next UFC CEO.

So you wanna be a fuckin' CEO?!

I don't know if you need a degree, but it's a highly skilled position. I have a J.D. degree and I am secure enough with myself to admit that I couldn't do his job.

Different skills for different careers. His job requires a lot of different skills that most people don't have. I won't say he is perfect at it, but I respect the job he has to do.

Yup lot of people in the industry say no one works as hard as Dana. He literally eats sleeps and breathes his job and many people have said they are amazed he hasn't gotten burnt out yet. Lot stories out there about Dana still being in the office at 2-3 in the morning, nearly every day lol.

It takes a lot of skills and talents the average person doesn't have (decisiveness, a certain degree of wisdom, an ability to build and maintain important relationships, foresight, vision, etc.) but not necessarily a high IQ.

CEOs, Presidents, etc. have a certain degree of ruthlessness and a combination of personality traits atypical of average people.

They're also very hard workers too.

You can't get a college degree in fight promotion, it's not a job that anybody can just walk in and do.

It´s a much harder job that most people wouldn´t be able to do properly nor understand how much it requires. If it requires a college degree? Right because in college you learn about how to manage one of the biggest fight buisnesses. No. having a buisness degree? No. All the degrees in the world wouldn´t help you. You are told what to learn you are just brainwashed some shit. Dana whites job is so much more than that, its not just generic things to say, you have to have an eye and skill for that and you only get that by beating on your craft and get real experience.

Degrees and college has nothing to do with a job like that. You might need it to get it due to papers and shit, but just like being a commentator wont nessasairly give you Joe Rogans job, you need connections. Most jobs in this world is all about connections, thats it.

Buy the ufc and you can have the job, simple as that.
