Do you agree or disagree with Whoopi when she says it's ok to hit a woman if she hits you first?

That's too broad a question, imo.

What's the context? What's the level of threat? How hard (where and with what) did she hit?

All things being equal, I'm oldschool, and don't like the idea of hitting a woman, but I'm not so obtuse as to make it a rule.

I can tell you that one of two things needs to change, either all the expectations of chivalry need to go out the door, and become as culturally unacceptable as dropping the N-bomb, or women need to know that they can equally get knocked the F#$% out for running their mouth, or swinging on a guy.

This idea that we are all equal, but men need to be vilified for dropping a women like a bad habit, while she is screaming in his face, or swinging on him, is not sustainable.

Either we are equal, or we aren't. This have your cake and eat it too non-sense needs to stop.

I came home from work one day, and my wife hit me in the head with a frying pan, I don't ever mess with her again.

Even for just running their mouth ?

I think hitting is wrong and yelling is wrong but i dont think yelling deserves physical violence though it can be annoying .

Depends on the woman, and if they have a weapon. A woman my girl's size and smaller, without a weapon, would just get tossed aside. the bigger they are, the more likely I would be to use more force.

Women are equal to men. I'm a woman and I understand this. If you actually respect equality, if some woman hits you, it's actually sexist to not hit her back. Frankly, all of the "depends on the woman" and "what's the situation?" shit I'm seeing above is pure sexism and you people should be ashamed of your internal misogyny.

Haha, did you marry a Latina?
Lol. You know I went to prom with a Latina. That was an experience. She cried at the prom, and then asked me why I was still nice to her. We went to a fun park the next day. She fainted in line, passed out cold. I picked her up and carried her to help. They put her on a cot the whole day and she yelled at me. This is a true story. I didn't marry that girl.

I was joking about my wife and the frying pan though.

Context is everything.

If I feel like there's a serious threat, I'll do what I need to do; even if it's a pussycat.

Yeah I'm not gonna hit a woman like a man unless I feel as threatened. If that's misogyny in my part, I can live with that.

I don't think Whoopi said it's OK. I think she said if you hit him, don't expect to not get hit back. There's a difference.

I feel as this is a non-issue for most men.

Right to defend yourself is a thing.

Assault is a thing.

Still, too many nuances. I would consider bias against my actions if I was considering a proper, well desserved bitch slap.

That's awesome. Crazy is fun for a limited time. Better to marry a wholesome girl who doesn't regularly meltdown.

You have no idea how patronizing it is to just waltz in and talk like this. It's a bit like that "If you're not brown, you won't understand it" thread. This is misogyny - you're totally, unapologetically comfortable saying "I will do this to a man, but I treat a woman as lesser and won't do it to her" - and you don't seem to have the slightest clue about how patronizing and misogynistic it is to hold this position and announce it like it's just cool to treat women as lessers. It's sexism, pure and simple.

Hmmm. Given your posting history, I'm trying to decipher whether this is sarcasm.

I lay the odds of sarcasm at -150, but I'm not comfortable betting an entire unit.

If your asking me to feel fear where none lives, I cannot do that. I'm either a misogynist, or a liar. I prefer the former.
