I saw that there is an event BELLATOR MMA - 2014 MONSTER ENERGY CUP today
Is it on Spike?
Why there are only 3 fights?
What time is it start?
What is the point of this event?

You can watch it by attending the 2014 Monster Energy Cup.

I have no idea why people are so pissed about this. It's just a few exhibition fights. Get over it.

Yup.

Monster asked them for a favor.

Is Bellator supposed to say no because a few geeks online are whining about it? LOL.

The fights aren't going to be broadcast, aren't really promoted, aren't using any marquee fighters, don't cost anything extra for Monster Energy Cup ticket holders to watch and have no bearing on Bellator's current or future schedule or card lineups.

But it's causing "over-saturation"? Bitch, please.

What if a county fair asked Bellator for a favor? Get some new fans who also like deep fried twinkees?

I'm guessing some people feel like Bellator is taking Mma from a serious sport to more of a sideshow like ladies lingerie football. This exhibition seems more suited for small regional mma companies. The NFL isn't putting on an exhibition game at Burning Man.

Bellator has a sponsorship relationship with Monster. They provide some free entertainment for the people in attendance and in return, they get some cheap brand awareness. Keep in mind, they promote in a sport that most people think is called "UFC." So it's tremendously different from the scenarios you listed.

Seriously...why the hell does this offend people so much? Shouldn't you idiots be trying to bail War Machine out of prison or something?

If the county fair in question was one of Bellator's biggest sponsors, one of the most well-known county fairs in the entire country and was holding an event which will draw over 50,000 attendees, then yes, Bellator would grant them the same favor.

Also, there is big crossover in the core young male demos for fans who enjoy high-adrenaline sports like MMA and supercross. Bellator would be dumb to turn down the opportunity to push their product at such a big Monster Energy event.

Putting on a few fights for a major sponsor at a big event doesn't mean Bellator is turning into a sideshow. It means Bellator will have a chance to spread some brand awareness and push their big Nov. 15 card by handing out promotional material.

The NFL comparison is downright stupid because the league can't just put together two team teams on short notice to play half a game at an event one of their major sponsors is holding. The dynamics of the two sports are completely different.

Also, how many trustafarians who attend Burning Man give a fuck about the NFL? What is the crossover potential between the two that would make such an idea even worthwhile? Again, dumb comparison.

Somewhat related: a state fair would be a good place for some exhibitions fights. In the Midwest where there`s nothing to do those state fairs seem pretty popular. Probably attract a decent amount of new fans.

Nah, even if a big state fair was paying Bellator a whole lot of money to be a major sponsor, Bellator holding a few fights at the fair would be way too "sideshow-ey", or something.

If these MMA hipsters had their way, Bellator would still be broadcast in SD on ESPN 8: "The Ocho".

Absolutely a couple free fights at the fair would draw people.

After the trashfire that was yesterday do you really want to see even worse fighters fight today?

Exactly.

This isn't like the UFC, where they make a shit card (UFN 51), then top it with Arlovski-Bigfoot, and therefore still have a pretty bad card, plus they took away a marquee fight that could have beefed up a different event.

Dan Charles is the biggest name on the card - and he's never even been on a Bellator main card, even when he was paired up against Mighty Mo.

It's just a live mini-event to bring in new fans. That's all.

James wilson vs Maurice Jackson
Gustavo lopez vs sean cantor
Adrian Hadribeaj vs aj williams

starts at 5pm EST. No stream, not on spike
