The Machida that destroyed Rashad Evans definitely would. Machida was a savage. I'm not sure he would beat DC but he definitely would give him a good fight.

Machida always looked great against wrestlers in his day. People will say Jones, but he doesn't fight like most of the guys we call 'wrestlers' in the UFC. He attacked with muay thai and it wasn't until he let his hands go in Rd 2 that he took over. Cormier is better at that style than the guys Machida has made his highlight reel out of, but I still think it's a much harder match for Cormier than comparing resumes will tell you.

2009 Machida might give DC a good fight, but it's pointless.

2015 Cormier knows everything about "prime" Machida, while the Machida of 2009 would know absollutely nothing about Cormier, giving him the obvious advantage in strategy.

If both fight in their primes and have no video on themselves, only knowing that one is "karate" style and the other "wrestling" style. Then, Machida might have a chance. If not, it's DC all the way.

nope, that is why UFC 200 is a blessing. Jones and cormier and literally the two best fighters in MMA right now.

That is a weird style matchup but also very intriguing.

I think it could go either way. If they fought twice I would say it would probably be split.

I am a bigger Machida fan than a Cormier fan but I will admit DC's chin is a huge factor in this fight. He can really take a shot. We haven't seen him unconscious yet but I guess it is possible a prime lightning quick Machida could have finished the job after seeing Gus drop DC with a knee and Rumble drop DC at the very beginning of round 1.

i think Cormier is a lil bit overrated if put as number 2... Cain and Luke are better than him imo... Cormier has such a obvious style, lol, but thats extremely hard to handle though.
