One theory regarding the large number of insta rematches and gifted title shots was that they were done to boost PPV sales and make the bottom line look better for a sale.

Assuming the sale goes through and Dana stays, he's kind of obligated to maintain the PPV rates or get them higher so I sadly think nothing will change when it comes to title fight matchmaking.

I like them. I'd rather see Conor vs Nate than another fight Aldo pulls out of. Hendo Bisping II is way more exciting than Bisping Jacare.

Giving the fans the freakshow fights they want. Thank you Conor.

Some of these "gifted" title shots and instant rematches are the most exciting fights. This Bisping story has been awesome. It's stuff that's straight out of a movie. There's nothing wrong with a little drama and entertainment in sports.

Win or lose, I want cm punk to be gifted a title shot immediately after. ;)

I want Funky Ben, damn it.

Why would it stop?

The company is now owned by groups and PEFs that don't give two craps about the sport. All they want is the sport to grow and make the most money.

Sellable Fights will be much more likely than fights that stick to the rankings. Which could be better for fans, as many times they'd rather see the Champ fight an exciting #5 fighter than a boring #1 contender.

I hope not, Bisping-Hendo 2 is some shameful bs.

If Dana's style is making money for the company now, will the new ownership want him to keep making money?

The answer is yes

You're essentially asking the sport to get breast implants because it can't hurt.

The Hendo title shot is a huge joke. The sport really could use a step towards legitimacy with ranking based title shots and no insta rematches unless it was a really controversial decision. The short term gain of these fights can be offset by the move closer to boxing in terms of undeserved fights just to sell tickets.

Forget Funky Ben... Things were said that can't be unsaid and he's in a better place where he is saying he's the best instead of fighting the best.

Why would they not? You people keep on trying to act like this is a real sport. ITS NOT. Its Sports entertainment. The history of MMA is intertwined with pro wrestling and it is just a extension of the old shoot style wrestling from the late 1800's-early 1900's.

The UFC wasn't always this bad is the point. Dana used to shoot down all the insta-rematch requests demanded by the fans.

Just another thing that a fighters union could improve on. the highest ranked contender that is healthy should always get the next title shot unless a longtime champ just lost.

I don't expect much to change. The creative individuals responsible for the marketing, promo's, and matches. Will remain doing their job as per usual.

With regards to PPV sales, the UFC will continue to put on fantastic match ups & all you complainers will continue to watch, then criticize.

All pro sports are entertainment..
