Do professional mma fighters

... This can not be serious...

But in the case it is. MMA isn't a style in itself, its the combination of styles. Most companies will therefore list a fighters particular strength as their style.
Most fighters get to pick what they want their style to be announced as. For example Roy Nelson is listed as a Kung Fu Fighter, Yves Edwards does Thugjitsu, Bob Sapp has his listed as NFL, Benji Radach had Face Smashing Fu, and Josh Barnette Pro Wrestling.

What is listed often has little to do with the fighters actual style. Belfort was listed as BJJ and then smashed people with boxing. Really every successful person in MMA is an MMA fighter. They have a well rounded arsenal of striking, wrestling, and submissions. Despite some having a strong base that they prefer without strengthening the other parts of their game to elite levels they become vunerable.

you're all missing on the great perception by the TS. boy's picking up on this new style that Jon Jones brought to the table, which is UFC really.

Jones is the epitome of the UFC fighter. all of his moves/trends are a result of coming up in the modern era UFC and are designed for this enviroment - cage instead of ring, wrestling background, elbows instead of knees on the ground, slick subs even if he's not a BJJ guy...

Thanks brother. Some people give smart allic condescending replies with out answering the question. If they were in a situation where they needed help with something they would hate to be treated the same way. But thanks to everyone nice and humble enough to help a rookie out on his quest to become a fighter.

No problem. Good luck.

I guess I am going to step out and be the only person here who's not a total dick, and this is rare for me.

There's not really a form or style that is considered MMA, I would think what you're looking for is sometimes you see guys listed as "free-style fighters".

Rampage has kick-boxing base. He's fought a few pro-kick boxing matches before transitioning to MMA.

Very few "free style" fighters make it to the highest level of MMA because they don't have a base discipline to hang their hat on - BJJ, Wrestling, ect.

Hate to break it to you but Rampage's base is Wrestling, but he also had very good counter punching. it's only since he went to Wolfslair that he decided to become a boxer with a few kicks added in.

Hmmmmm. If a person wanted to be a good mma fighter do yall think it would be a good idea to just take MMA classes without mastering solo arts apart from that like muay thai or BJJ?
